A rather large update to Team Fortress 2 has been released. A couple of balance changes to the Dead Ringer and Force-A-Nature weapons, but more importantly some additions from the community including a new option in Multiplayer -> Advanced that allows you to turn hit registration sounds on and off.[br]
Other changes include some new features to the recently released TFBots, who now interestingly have a psuedo-mousemat that stops them spinning 180 degrees instantly. Here are some of the most interesting changes/additions:[br]
Server Browser (TF2 and DoD:S)
  • Added a client-side server blacklist (Supports blacklisting of specific servers, all servers on an IP, and all servers on a class C range)
Balance Changes
  • Reduced the health penalty on The Sandman
  • The dead ringer now reduces cloak to 40% when uncloaking early, among other things.
Changes/Fixes
  • Fixed a performance & stability issue with AMD processors
  • Improved the stability of the game server -> item backend connection
  • Reduced the number of moons in ctf_doublecross, sadly

Thanks to Sledgehammer for the blacklist picture

no more losing my rage when going to the resupply! yay!

yay for blacklist...I've been wanting that for a while now....since usually when I refresh my list all top servers are ****ing instant spawns(but with no tags to filter) and I can't be bothered with instant spawn servers...now I can just blacklist them...hmmm hope there's a right click option for this so I don't have to go an add them manually...

Does anyone have a picture of the multi moons, just for prosperity's sake.

Balance changes

* Reduced the health penalty on The Sandman(good it seemed a little harsh for the low health class to have a bigger health penalty than the demo with the Eye lander....I still like the old penalty better as it made the game play even more differently)

* The Force-A-Nature knockback on target now
o Only applies to hits that deal more than 30 damage and are in close range
(wasn't it always something like this? I can't for the life of me get the FAN to be any useful....always seemed like the knock back would only work at extremely close range...also I don't like this sounds like a nerf and the FAN already seems useless to me)
o Factors in the firer's angle of attack when determining the knock back direction(finally hopefully this will get rid of the useless straight up in the air knock back that seemed to be the only knock back it could do...also hopefully this works for both the attacker and target)
o Has less of an effect on grounded targets(again did we really need this? shouldn't they make the FAN more powerful?)

(finally I really think the 25% less damage should be fixed....at least for close range...it makes very little sense considering the way the FAN was described when it was released...and also considering the slower damage out put(while firing rate is higher...you need to reload every two shots fired))

* The Dead Ringer now
o Reduces cloak to 40% when uncloaking early
(not sure I get this...and I don't know what the previous values were)
o Has a 35% cap on the amount of cloak it can gain from an ammo pack(I assume it didn't have any cap before?...either way sounds like a nerf...I don't really think the deadringer needs nerfing it's already hard enough to use effectively compared to other watches)
o Has a quieter de-cloak sound(finally...though I still think they should remove it entirely and then move the de-cloaking sound to the Cloak and dagger watch...currently there's really no point in going with the normal watch vs. cloak and dagger....and I think having a louder de-cloak sound is a fair trade off for having unlimited cloak.)

just noticed the server blacklisting is only for TF2 and DoD:s .... why not for all valve games? seems odd...

VALVe seem to have an update blacklist against CSS now, so that might explain that part :p

In all seriousness though, TF2 and DoD:S probably run on the same engine (L4D1 and 2 have different ones). So VALVe just updated the Orange box engine. If CSS had been updated to the Orange box engine (which it should have already!) then it would have got it too.

He's too lazy to express his rage, which to me means that he's not enraged enough.

Glad the Dead Ringer and FAN got nerfed, they both deserved it.
