Tech Freehands 1-3 !*VERY DETAILED*!

A few drawings I did that involved the same idea(s) and techniques. Each time spent on each one varied from 11 days to 2 months (I didn't always work on each one every day :p.)

Sorry if the quality isn't super-great, but the original scans are like 1700xsomething, lol. A wee-bit too big for these forums ;).

C/C would be suggested, thanks.

PS - All done freehand with NO referrence pic(s), and using only 100% pilot pen :D. I hate using pencils :p.

WOW! Fantastically detailed, very stylish and intricate. Maybe shade it a bit in photoshop to give it more of a sense of dimension, but it's great as it is.

That's pretty sweet! I wouldn't even know where to start on something like that! :P

/me wants to kick NSPIRE in the nuts..... :)

dam fine job there my man, how do you get it so clean first time if you use a pen? I have to use pencil to get the basis then go over it with ink

*st0lve sense cheat!!!!1*

No jk, VERY VERY nice!

It's possible, just takes a while and you gotta be dead careful.. You need a lot of patience to do that style.. I get about half way and get bored lol

What actually are they? (Aside from VERY cool drawings:P)

Oh....my...god...that puts my little Quentin to shame - completely and utterly! Very well done!

Lol, wow... umm, thanks for all the comments 'n such! ^__^

Hmm, tutoial? Well, maybe, lol.

When I drew all of these, I always start with the head... and the whole thing about being really patient is true; they take FOREVER!!!1 >__< And about the mistakes thing; it's true that you do have to be really careful about making mistakes, but if I do make them (and believe me, they do happen) you just have to learn to cover them up somehow, and with drawings as complex as these, honestly, it's not an impossible task to do :p.

Looking nice, however it is very complex and I kinda get drawn away from the actual forms. I think if you would use your thinkness in lines to support the forms of the objects it would have been a very interesting and great to look at piece of illustration. apport from this minor thing I really like it.

GJ!

Spectacular... wow that is just amazing, well done.
reminescent of something Giger, I love it.

that really is amazing. i may print these off and try and copy them(*edit* im not a theif, i just cant draw this stuff from my imagination unless i practice first ;) ), ive allways wanted to do this style of drawing but i dont have any inspiration and i cba to buy comics with it in.

Hehe, thanks guys. Suicide, feel free to go ahead and be inspired :p. I don't mind. Good luck with it, too! ^__^

nice. shame they're all of similar content though. have you considered adding colour to them ?

ack no, Adding color to this style can really harm it. Unless its done in a comic book 4 color print style, and then only very faintly. They work better as B&W though IMO.

yes, black and white is the only way to do techno. ill have a go on friday at drawing some- i have revision today (GCSE modular science test tommorow omg omg omg etc.) and loads of HW on thursday (loads!!!)
ahhh.. err.... on friday Deus ex invisible war comes out... :( maybe saturday...

Hehe, black and white IS the only way to go with this style. :) Believe me... I know, lol.

Wait... hasn't Deus Ex: IW been out for about 2-3 months now??? O__o

nice!!
that looks like it took a long time

NSPIRE, you NSPIRE me to do these. :D Those are awsome drawings. How long approximately did they take you?

Yeah, really, I can't get myself to play past the first part of DX:IW.. it's kinda cool, from a tech perspective, but after you've messed around with the (horrible) physics and the lighting.. it kinda lost its appeal, for me

Hehe, yeah... I'd send ya' a copy... err, umm nevermind :p *whistles* hehe.

Thanks for all the new comments, too ^__^. Approximately, I'd say on average each one took a (TOTAL) time of around 12+ hours? Just a rough estimate, though...

Very nice. I wish I had the patience to do something like that, NSPIRE. Amazing. I love that style

off topic: Suicide 42.. I've never revised for one of those modular tests! They're so easy. Then again, if I'd revised for my last one's I'd have probably got straight A*... meh

I've done 5 of them... we just did Earth materials and some chemistry one on Wednesday, and they were pretty easy. We did three in december I think (can't remember...) , and I got an A in biology, and a B in chem and physics, all with no revision. I should probably revise, but... meh.

I really like those tech drawings... I do something similar in the margins of my exercise books, but not with faces, just random shapes. I looks back at them and they're rather creepy, they look like some kind of bizarre landscape.. I should scan them sometime

i like it :) im sure it's gonna look prety damn good when it's finished

Hehe, thanks for that comment TrinityXero :p. I wish I could work professionally like that :p... would be odd, though, considering I'm only 16 years old. :(

Suicide, you've definately got the right ideas man! I really love it so far. I'm glad that I'm actually inspiring people to be all creative and start to draw :p ^__^.

Anybody else do any drawings kinda' like these? Please post 'em, I'd love to see yours, too.

That'd be sick if you could scan it 'n upload it somewhere for us to see :p.

BTW - Stippling = i hate... err, I mean, I'm horrible at it :p. It's too time-consuming! :D ^__^

Didn't you spend something like 15 hours on those tech drawings?

How much more time consuming could it possibly be? :D

So hands up who wants to model this one of NSPIRE's

attachment.php

how about the next modeling comp? :)

I'll hands up!

I do want to model it, but I don't I'll ever be able to. :P

I'll stick to two dimensions, thank you very much!

hmm.... you never know, these teck drawings could be any part of the body. the most detailed one could be a part smaller than a grain of sand, one part of a huge mech larger than the whole world. Or, maybe its just a roboyt? who knows.... well, probally NSPIRE but thats not the point...
i have to admit, mine looks like a nanobot. maybe for repairing things with that big mutha****er gun its got.

Haha, actually I don't even really know :p.

Suicide, that's hella true, yours looks like a possible repair-bot ^__^. You and I could make comics about this kinda' stuff, lol...

Oh, that time-consuming thing? I meant that even though they took many hours to complete, it'd still be like tacking on another 10+ hours for stipling them (rough estimate ;)).
