I mean, I hate kids as much as the next, but this is just plain ****ed up.

BAYTOWN, Texas - A 14-year-old girl who secretly gave birth in a school bathroom was charged with capital murder Thursday by police, who said she killed the newborn by choking and flushing him in the toilet.

The girl was charged as a juvenile; Baytown police Capt. Roger Clifford said prosecutors will decide whether to certify her as an adult. She cannot be executed if convicted because of her age.

The girl gave birth April 2 in a bathroom at Cedar Bayou Junior High. Police said she stuffed toilet paper in the infant?s throat and submerged him in a toilet. An autopsy confirmed the baby was alive and cried before his mother tried to flush him, police Lt. Eric Freed said.

She was probably very distressed and mentally disturbed after the birth. She thus shouldn't be convicted of murder.

In Sweden we have something called "baby slaughter" in the law, which applies to situations like this (where the mother was out of her mind after giving birth). I think the maximum penalty for those crimes are six years. Do you have something similar in the US?

As bad as that is, I cant help but feel sorry for the girl. She probably was under a ridiculous amount of stress from her parents and didnt know what to do.

So maybe that updated means someone else touched it up or something. Either way, it's a first time I've heard of it.

Well obviously. But in most cases of child abuse or murders I feel sad about what happened to the victim, and angry at the perpetrator. In this case, its just sad all around. The girl was hardly more than a child herself. She clearly didnt receive the direction from responsible adults that she needed in order to avoid this.
 
Bitch shouldn't have gotten pregnant if she didn't want the baby... or at least done the ****ing responsible thing by putting it up for adoption.

I could understand things a little better if she was diagnosed with a mental disorder like severe bipolar or something.

My mom tried suffocating me and my brother with a pillow when we were infants. She suffered from really severe bipolar mental disorder that overcame her at the time. Luckily my dad was there to stop her in time. I still love the woman though, because she's my mom... and she's horrified by what she had done.

This girl, I'm sure just killed the baby because she didn't want the baby.

Not ****ed up enough to shove toilet paper into an infant's throat and then try to flush it down a small porcelain hole while it's drowning in toilet water.

And I'm not saying her age or situation is any sort of excuse at all. I'm just saying its a sad situation all around. Clearly the adults in her life failed to teach her anything about being a good human being (i'd be willing to bet the dude who knocked her up was an adult even). A normal 14 year old child would know better, but this girl obviously needed some guidance and never got it.

Its tragic any way you cut it really.

But I guess thats just the way the baby crumbles.
