According to a police affidavit, the teens were baby-sitting Trujillo's half-sister, Zoe Garcia, on Dec. 6 while the girl's mother was at work. Zoe lost consciousness and stopped breathing after the teens hit, kicked and body-slammed her, imitating moves used in the video game, the document said.

They got inspiration from the game, but it's not RESPONSIBLE for the girl's death. It's not like the game told them:
Game: "Kill her. She's a bitch."
Dude: "I'm babysitting her. I won't get any cash if I kill her."
Game: "She stole your crack rocks. I saw it."
Dude: "Son of a bitch."

Also maybe it's just me but I don't se any MK fatalities described in this article. Where's the fireballs? The arm ripping?

Also if it DID replicate the game then we'd be seeing the FRIENDSHIP finishing move.

Also, this would have happened anyways, without mortal kombat. Instead of imitating mortal kombat moves, they would have done something else, like wrestling moves, rusty lead pipe moves, regular punch/kick moves etc.
 
Someone should have looked for warning signs before leaving these two in charge of a little girl. Things like, "Are either of them prone to violence?" "Are they impressionable?" "Do either of them have four arms and go around crouching to get into an uppercut stance?"

Because clearly mortal combat came up with all of the moves featured in the game. The Martial Arts have only been around for like ten years

That is SO what I would have said and done. Crack doesn't come easy these days, but it sells well.
