I read in a review at www.tomshardware.com about the new x800 cards AA filtering. Said ATI was implementing a new system that would give say 8x AA with only the work of 4x. Said it came with the new x800 cards and would be relased in a catalyst update for the radeon 9xxx series. Anyone know when these new drives should hit? I installed the latest ones today and there was nothing new.

:O I thought temporal AA works by your FPS, meaning the higher FPS you get the software will detect to change your AA higher and then the lower FPS the lower the AA.

You can enable it right now, bu only through changing the specific things yourself. The plan that ATi has that if your game is above 60 fps then temporal AA will be on (If you turned that option on) but one your fps drops below 60 then it will be automatically turned off to give you better performance.

I know something like that is possible. My 5200 has something called 2xq, which is the quality of 4x AA but gives you the performance of 2x. So higher fps, and better AA. It works pretty good too, I don't even notice a difference in fps between off and 2x, so I'm pretty much getting 4x quality for no cost. If I run at anything higher than 2xq though, even normal 4x, my fps drops a lot.

How can I enable it?
