temporary video card upgrade?

well with so many good things being said about the yet to be GeForce 9 series, i'm seriously considering upgrading my 6800GS to something inexpensive that'll tie me over until said 9 series is out
any suggestions? like an 8600 GT or something?

Gigabyte P35-DS3R
OCZ Gold DDR2-800 2GB

8600s are a complete waste of money, as far as I'm concerned.

8800GTS 320mb cards about about $290, if that's within your idea of "cheap" and "temporary"
