Just saw some ads for this. Sky are making another Discworld mini-series. Hogfather was alright, but not great. Hopefully this can be better. Rincewind seems a bit old though. And Two Flower has a lovely flowery shirt.

Hogfather wasn't a good choice for adapting, it's one of the more complex books. Colour of Magic should be better :)

Are there no links you can provide us with? D:

Edit: This seems to be the site.

I have no links because I saw a single add on TV, not a website. I can't just make up links you know!

I don't know if I'll ever really be comfortable with an adaptation of Discworld onto film, especially when it's live action. It's of course brilliant material for movies, but I can't see anyone short of someone like Pixar actually pulling it off (I always imagine it in the style of Paul Kidby), because it requires such a deft blending of intelligence and silliness.

Not that I wish anything bad on this particular adaptation of course.

David Jason is such a dumb choice if you ask me. He looks **** all like any of the illustrations of Rincewind and even in the books description, Jason isn't exactly the person that comes to mind when I think of someone who would portray Rincewind. Too old and too squat.

And lo and behold, I saw the trailer and he looked like a bell. I'll watch it as I love The Colour of Magic and anything Discworld related but gah.

Hah, go to the blog area of the site druckles posted :)

Hmph. I'd rather see one of his more standalone books adapted - Small Gods, for instance, or even Pyramids. (Uh, it was called pyramids, right? I forget).

Although actually the City Watch books would probably be the best choice for a mini-series, imho.

Pyramids is one of my favourites, so I'd love to see that.

David Jason as Rincewind? Hell no. Nigel Planer would be the MUCH better choice, but he's getting on a bit now too.

Edit:

THIS IDEA IS WIN

I can't believe they cast Del Boy as Rincewind. Especially seeing as he already played Albert. Christopher Lee should be good as Death, though.

Yeah, that too. I forgot to include how dumb it was to cast the same actor in a different story. It's just... why?

The City Watch books NEED to made, and Tony Robinson needs to play Nobby, and Nick Frost as Colon after his fantastic performance as Danny in Hot Fuzz. As for Vimes? Well, where to start? Personally, I think James Coburn would of been great but he's unfortuantly deceased now. :(

Colour of Magic? Meh, Rincewind is nice and all, but I REALLY want to see that Mort movie finally get made.

Actually, isn't Bethan entirely topless throughout the section she's in? I haven't read it in a while, but that seems to stick out for me. Perhaps that whole bit will be subject to a bit of... artistic license?
