Texture lights?

I did a small bit of mapping for Half-life, and I remember the only lights I used (well, almost) were textures... :O

Is this still in use?
and could someone please point me to a tutorial or something, I didn't find any for texture lighting for HL2...
 
do a filter on: light in the texture browser :).

Too bad there aren't much texture based lights.
 
Thanks to both of you!

I was using a texture on my lights (I had filtered by "light" in the texture broser) and didn't notice they were emitting light, so I put light entities under them as well...

Silly me, I was wondering why it was so bright even with the light entities brightness at 1... :D
