textures are black

Alright, I've compiled my custom textures using Vtex and I made a vmt for my image and put a transparent 1 command in it so that it reads the alpha channel, and it looks great in Hammer, but when I run my map, the texture lis black. I've had this problem with some other textures I've made as well, but those sometimes flicker back to the right color. I read somewhere that Hl2 likes to take the darkest texture and make it black, but I don't want it to do that to MY textures. Any advice?

This may be due to you useing the translucent command... it's buggy as hell and cause problems for me for months

if you just need a mask on a texture then use


alphatest 1


translucency only really works for things like smoke sprites or masses of transparent materials that dont have to worry about draw order
