[br]You can see a brilliant Team Fortress 2 comic right here, officially made by Valve. The comic tells the story of the BLU soldier making friends with the RED demoman (friends reference to the new sounds discovered earlier this week)[br]The TF2 Administrator asks for the help of Saxon Hale (usually the distributor of new weapons). The comic could be good harmless fun, or this could signal the soldier & demoman update is upon us as both classes are yet to receive their unlockable weapons.[br]The Administrator ends the comic by announcing 'a healthy competition' between the two classes by going head to head possibly as the sniper & spy update did.[br]See the full TF2 comic here.

This is very interesting. It seems that they are trying to expand the absent story of Team Fortress 2, starting with the Announcer's rather ominous character, if you will. It'll be interesting what VALVe has planned for Team Fortress 2 in the coming months, and it should be noted that the comic ends with the predictable, "Stay tuned... ."
 
Really hope the soldier finally gets an update, he is my favourite class to use :D
 
I LOVE it! They did a great job. I can't wait for the next one. Hopefully it will come out soon, but knowing valve...

Yes, I've just realised on looking on that that the only times where I heard the friendship messages I had been playing as soldier so that seems fairly conclusive of something.

No idea what, but certainly something. Though to be honest would any of us presume soldier hearing voices telling him to kill his friends was abnormal behaviour?

Yeah, looks like we're getting two updates at once again. The achievements will probably require you to kill the Solider with the Demoman in creative ways and vice versa. Thus breaking the friendship.
I doubt that we will get a new game mode. This is just Valve being creative with introducing a new update.
I Am looking forward to it.
 
I really like Mike Oeming's style and sense of detail, hopefully we'll see more of this.

Yeah, they always jump at the opportunity to incorporate ideas brought forth by the community. Just as long as they don't do the ... pyro thing ...
 
This looks very promising, adds the flavor of plot to TF2.

I thought it sounded like a new game mechanic where you get some personal challenge between people on your friends list - maybe with unlockable items as prizes. I didn't even think of class updates! Either would be great, but I hope it's both. That and another $2.50 sale, so I can buy the game for some buddies, friend them, beat them, and win stuff. Muwahahaha.
 
Sounds like the soldier and demoman (and probably by extension people on each other's friends lists) are going to be pitted against each other to get weapons.
 
Two against everyone? Then randomizes the next pair?
I have no idea.

Fan art was created by Makani. Obvious that Valve have taken inspiration from his design which most people adored.

Not necessarily. Someone said that the friendship and mention of a competition could hint at the fact that valve are going to be stat tracking demomen and soldiers and whoever performs the best gets the Saxton Hale's stuff (ie class update)
 
Yeah soldier and demo update, but Engi could still become involved in the plot too, leading to a triple treatment.

I almost burst into a billion tiny me's when I saw this.

Incredibly awesome. So, I'm starting to think that the Announcer actually is Elizabeth, and not her daughter or granddaughter like some people think.

Perhaps cigarettes and hatred have prolonged her life past its natural span. Anyone else leaning toward this theory?

On a side note... I am terrified of the coming spam storm.
