So why the heck did valve do this.

The sentry takes 200 metal to upgrade, and you can carry 200 metal. Then you go to upgrade your sentry but a enemy walks around the corner and makes it shoot 1 bullet, you are forced to reload the sentry.

Now you try to upgrade it but NOOOOOO!

"Upgrade: 199" WHAT THE **** IS THIS SHIT!?

WHAT THE ****KKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK!!!

WHY THE **** WOULD YOU DO THAT WHAT WERE THEY THINKING!

sentries are upgraded fast enough relatively the damage they do.
so this is 1 way to make the upgrade slower.

I'd didn't realise they let patients in mental hospitals play games like this.... would explain alot of the behavior i've seen on some servers though lol

Balance issues duhh

You know when a team mate or enemy dies, they drop their gun? If you walk over it as an engie you get metal for it, not much but usually enough to top up a damaged building or upgrade something. People are dying every few seconds, there are rarely moments you won't be able to find some metal.

Isn't 15 metal per weapon? Also if you build a dispensor they will provide you with metal. Also you should try to build next to ammo spawn points.

Nope. It is 100 metal per weapon, indiscriminent of the amountof ammo held at the time the origonal owner died, except is it is an engieers weapon, where the amount of metal you pick up is equal to the amount of metal he had when he died. Each scrap of metal from a destroyed buliding is worth 15 metal.

Some of the primary weapons (rocket launcher, Sasha...) seem to be giving 100 metal. It's sometimes annoying (playing Engineer) to see teammates run over them and refill one or two bullets :p... what a better purpose they could serve!

^ It's much more annoying when they take the 200 metal boxes at the start of a round, can really screw the Eng and you know that they don't need it.

True. On goldrush if I'm engi defending I always make sure to stand on the 200 metal spawn point during the set-up time.

I don't understand what he is ranting about :|

If it is the limited metal you are worried about just go, it is perfect, just the right amount of build a dispenser, without being able to build the rest, meaning you have to rely on your Dispenser or near by metal if you want to build a sentry/teleporter.

OH MY GAWD I KEEP ****ING BUILDING THE ****ING **** SENTRY IN THEIR BASE AND WHEN I RUN BACK TO SPAWN TO GET MORE METAL IT'S ALREADY DEAD.

****!

Idiot.

I think he wants sentries to be synonymous with the apocylapse.

I perfectly understand his rant, since as a offensive engineer you may not want to build a dispenser right away due to the danger of enemy encounters.

And then if your little pancake lvl1 sentry shoots a single bullet at a scout running by, you will indeed be forced to go back and find 1 metal in order to complete the upgrade.

Seems unnecessary to reload a sentry when you're upgrading it. It takes ages for it to run out of ammo anyway.

FINALLLYYYYYYY!!!!! :bounce:

TBH, I'd say the backburner is no more powerful than the rocket launder.

I find it more annoying that the pyro update seems to a borked the sentries so that they will sometimes track and fire at enemies thru walls...rather than enemies they can actually hit.

Exactly. You should only really feel inclined to wrench your sentry for ammo when it is near completely empty, or have pretty much made camp. Exit, dispenser, lvl3 sentry, the works.
