tga to .vtf

ok ive never created a spray or anything before and im following the tutorial they give to do it. when i open the vtex converter it comes up as a rar not exe and i cant drop the tga in it to create a vtf. ive been reading other posts and am i supposed to be doing something in system command? if anyone could help me out it would be apreciated. :bounce:

you need to get winrar. Its like winzip and it will "unzip" the *.rar file for you.

alright thx, im new at making sprays, ive made cheap flash videos and gif animations and i figured why not try to make some sprays. :rolling:

ok i drop the .tga into vtex and nothing happens? im here in the forum yea the bottom of course is the part that gets me...

1. Place our newly created TGA file in the following folder * vtex\hl2\materialsrc\sprays
2. Run the file tga2vtf.bat to create the VTF file

the vtex\hl2\materialssrc\sprays, how to i get into the folder vtex??
