I know there have been atleast 3 threads asking this question, but I can't find them (I suck at searching).

That one music site where you enter a name of a band/singer and it tells you what else you'd like. I know there are 2 of them, one of them is called something-plasma or plasma-something. Can't remember.

Thanks for the help.

Dear Pandora Visitor,

We are deeply, deeply sorry to say that due to licensing constraints, we can no longer allow access to Pandora for most listeners located outside of the U.S. We will continue to work diligently to realize the vision of a truly global Pandora, but for the time being we are required to restrict its use. We are very sad to have to do this, but there is no other alternative.

ahh pandora. Great for listening to fun music.

I still prefer CDs. I always love to go through entire albums (yes, even through crappy songs) for reasons that are highly unknown to me. I think I just like to appreciate all of the work that bands have put out, rather than just one or two songs per CD. I also love to have all CDs by an artist and listen to them in succession. *shiver of joy*

only problem is that your CDs wont recommend similar artists from the same genre or ones that follow the same style.

That's, like, what human interaction and going to shows are for :|

Pandora isn't about letting people listen to music for free, it's a site that aids people in a search for new music to listen to and new artists to discover. The whole point of it always being a constantly random playlist and the 50% chance of an artist you've never heard of coming up pretty much rules out the option of using it as a way to listen to music for free just for pleasure.

I quite like Pandora and its unpredictability but that's a double-edge sword; sometimes it just throws up a lot of crap for you. Then again I've found bands I like through it.

CDs for the win.

Yeah, true, but between paying money for something I may or may not like (impulse buying has sometimes worked wonders for me, natch), or testing it out for free on the Internet? No competition. :P

Alternatively you could listen to the CDs in the shop.

There's an ace shop near me that stocks a huge variety of stuff and is rarely so busy that the listening post is occupied.

cd's are going to be a thing of the past. Pretty soon everything is going to stream wirelessly. You will set your songs from your computer for your car....cant wait

I don't care if people listen to music for free, and I don't know what I could have said that made you think I was O.o

EDIT: oh, now I get it. "Appreciating the work bands put out" or whatever. Personally, I'm more worried about wasting their time than their money :P

Also, back to my second post, put compilation CDs with shows. I looooove compilations.

Well that's the thing; people are constantly wasting bands time because not everyone has heard of so-and-so band/artist, if you follow. Obviously bands have fans - small home town followers, the odd few on Myspace that actually listen to peoples music, etc - but websites like Pandora are reaching out to give bands the airplay they deserve.

Well, ok. You can listen to pandora, I'll listen to CDs.

I'll do both - the more the merrier.
