Well I'm planning on actually upgrading next year when Unreal 3 engine and all the next gen parts come out. And once again I plan to have the tippy top of the line at that particular time. So my question is, since I've been out of the hardware loop for a LONG time, what kinda parts am I going to be looking to get next year?

nvidia 7800gtx gpu
ati 64 fx55 cpu
and a few thousand gigs of RAM

Just that much, you are pushing it with that amount..

I would advice you to wait until teh next generation of componants come out, there is going to be alot of developments soon with Ati developing there own version of SLI, and also both ATi and nVidia are bring out the next range of video cards. Something else to watch is the current battle with the dual core CPU as I think I heard this somewhere, but may be wrong, that the unreal3 engine will utilise teh 2nd core fully.

Dual core athlon 64, for those times you need to run unreal 3 and a dvd encoder.
Nvidia 7800 gtx sli!!
2 gbs of ddr2? ram. (Amd is supposed to suppord it next year)
15000 rpm sata drive.

Be sure to get a Calson Syntac 56-56 if you can afford it. I will probably get the 43-43 since it's about half the price.
