The 6 GigaHertz barrier has been reached!

cooooold.

Not very practical, but very cool indeed.

Thats with multiple processors, and it can reach as high as they want to.

Too much. That is really amazing, how is he cooling that thing? And how much would it cost?

Liquid Nitrogen. And I would think it would cost a lot as i think it has to be filled up frequently.

Wow, LIQUID NITROGEN?! Man I remember making a joke about cooling a cpu with that stuff, that's gotta be really expensive. Although looks like it puts up some big numbers, to say the least.

I'm more interested in stable overclocks to be honest. I think its hilarious that they had mspaint crash on them at 6.1 GHz.

Speaking of OCing, hows your graphics card doing?

Pretty good, the temps in my case don't seem to be changed much, that side panel fan is really getting the heat out of there. 284/470 was the highest stable one I could get, ran 3DMark03 this morning and it didn't crash at all, then ran the MOH: Pacific Assault demo using PS2.0 and it was fine, the only game that seems to have a problem is the Jedi Academy demo, sometimes it will just freeze up after a little while of playing. But seeing as it's the only app/game that it happens in, I'm not too concerned. If I see any other bad signs popping up I'll bring it back down to stock speeds but these were the speeds that it said were the best for me and besides Jedi Academy they work great. Thinking about getting the VGA Silencer if I can get it cheap, like $10. Do you know any place that has it for that?

VGA silencer is primarily a ATI product. They have a generic one that may work, but I am not sure. I think newegg has it for 15 which probably will be your best deal. I took a quick look on www.ocforums.com and I don't think it would work.

I personally think some Artic Silver 5 would be great. You spend $10 on a tub that will last you for a bunch of applications. Great if you are planning on building your computers from now on. And I personally think it would be a better buy than replace your current heatsink/fan combo.

As for your overclock, when you reach your max overclock, downclock it by 5 MHz (core and memory) for added stability. To make sure your overclock is 100% stable, play MOH: PA for an hour or two. Also, make you room as hot as possible (within reason of course) when doing this as well. Its not uncommon for overclocks to go bad when the ambient room temperture rises a couple of degrees.

Ok, but wait what is Arctic Silver and how do I use it? I will be building my own computers from now on, I didn't know what I was doing when I got the Dell, but never again. I'm thinking maybe one of those Vantec IceQberg's would be nice. And my room temperature is almost always cool, in the winter, well it's winter, and the heat is on but not so much that it's too hot. And in the summer I got my A/C in my room on high all summer long, I like it cool. So yeah I'll downclock the core and memory by 5mhz. Thanks, what do you think about one of those Vantec's?

In my opinion, the one you have is a much better heatsink than the IceQberg.

That should get you understanding the basics on how to apply artic silver thermal paste. It really is top notch stuff. Much better than the stuff that companies normally use for thermal paste. Be sure to read the reviews on artic silvers website, it just provides some more commentary on why thermal paste is needed and why Artic Silver is the best.

Very old video, but still amazing none the less.
