What!?

Why not something like this:

(Select Black Oak finish and 7.3 Dolby setup and you have THIS)

But I'm sure there are better home theater setups, I just found that to show that this computer deserves living room-style speakers...

And for RAM, if you go with a non-DDR2 mobo (which it will be if it's an AMD system) : Four of THESE

Thats no monitor...

But this is: http://www1.us.dell.com/content/top...ors/topics/en/monitor_3007wfp?c=us&l=en&s=gen

Only donwside is the fact that no card can play at that resolution with decent settings, hahah.

My video editing class got one of these not too long ago (allong with a quad cpu g5).

Well, it's a 30" apple, but both apple and dell use the same panels so they (should) be exactly the same.

But, PFFFT!

Who in gods name would play on an asian dick like that when you could game in a theatre?

That's no keyboard. Go for the Logitech G15

As for the graphics, a quad SLI 7800gtx 512 will do fine for the time being.

Don't do any of this yet. DX10 GPUs and hardware PPUs will be out later in the year and then we can start talking about the absolute best in hardware.

Why discuss components that can't take advantage of all of the features of games in development right now? That doesn't sound like the "absolute best" to me....

We play games that are released already, but I don't know about you.

I do too--don't get me wrong--but you also have to try to the best of your ability to future-proof your rig and if that takes a little added patience on my part, then that is something that I am more than willing to throw into the equation.

ya but if you can afford a $12,000 computer I dont think future proofing is all that much of a concern ..what's another $1000 gpu when you spend $1400 on a case alone?

Pinnacle of gaming, don't you agree? I had one too.

well we're certainly not getting younger old bean

heh but I also had this ...well my high school did

I have a Cheetah hard drive and it's damn fast. However, you have to consider the interface card - most of the SCSI cards are PCI-x, which is typically (not always) only found on server motherboards. There's a PCI-e SCSI card here for between $700 and $800, but I bet it would let that drive run at most of its available bandwidth. I have an IDE (7200rpm), SATA(10000rpm), and SCSI(15000rpm) drive on my computer and the SCSI still owns and it's not even running at full bandwidth! My computer doesn't have a PCI-x port and I don't want to spend the kind of money necessary to plug it into the spare PCI-e port. The card mentioned above has a couple of channels - maybe stripe a couple of Cheetas?

ok it's official Adabiviak is our official harddrive-setter-upper :E ...collect your parts and just hand me the bill

somehow i dont thing 4gigs of pc2100 ecc ram will be all that great
Yup that's a bad idea. I don't see the point in getting more than 2gb of ram, but if I were to buy 4 gigs, I'd definately go with Idonotbelonghere's solution.
