MUSE

Check them out. They`re pretty big in Europe, but most americans havent even heard about them. Pretty "big" music, so stay away if you`re into lo-fi garage rock or The Strokes stuff. They have been dubbed the "next Queen", and rightly so..

Here are some tunes from their own webpage.

New Born - Slow piano intro followed by a massive rock riff that leads the song into a cool punk-ish rock-bomb.

Apocalypse Please - Massive piano based song, perfect for those oppressive moods. Reminds me of HL2 actually.

Let me know if you want more recomendations.

I doubt they'll "change rock music forever", but they are certainly a brilliant band. :)

Love em, one of my favourite bands. Genius stuff.

It's nice music, beats the hell out of Linkin' Park .. lol

Muse is a weird sounding band, but I've yet to hear a song of theres I dislike.

Wow. Not bad. Especially not that Apocalypse song.

You should look up Dead Star, Fury and Plug In Baby. They're great songs.

Muse are heavily influenced by Radiohead. So much so that an uninformed listener would mistake them for Radiohead. This means that Radiohead would be the band to change rock music forever.

The first album is influenced by Radiohead, but the rest of the stuff is clearly miles away from the stuff Radiohead have.

I gotta say those 2 songs blow ass, the guitar is distorted to hell, the only actual music in the songs is the piano.

Yeah, because we all know the only instrument that plays proper music is the piano. Everything else just sounds like meaningless white noise. :p

Oooh boy, I'm in a sarcastic mood today. :|

im liking it, its like thom yorke on crack. very nice vocals. i just wish they'd get to the good part a bit quicker on the first track, the best part begins at 3 minute mark.

For those who are into the more melodic piano based stuff

Sunburn

and for those more interessted in rock stuff

Citizen Erased Their best song, IMO.

AND,

rocky piano stuff, with a touch of camp musical-ishness

Space Dementia

Not really a fan of MUSE. Their just not for me i guess

Space Dementia is a great song. It has the best chorus of any song, ever :)

Seriously, anyone who is into Muse needs to get the Hullabuloo DVD, great stuff. Please note it only has tracks from their first two albums.

Yey MUSE!!!!!!
What do you prefer, Absolution or Origin of Symettry?

Origin, by far. The most inventive rock album ever along with A night at the opera and the shape of punk to come, not counting in beatles stuff.

Muse kicks ass, I dont really care for most of the songs you guys recommended though. I really like hysteria, bliss and thoughts of a dying atheist.

I can't understand the words in that first song. But i"ve listened to it about 5 times so far. Love the music.

Intresting fact-
Absolution- 10 out of the 14 traks have lyrics which dont contain the title of the song

When I clicked on this thread, I thought you were talking about Sigur Ros. That band WILL and IS changing rock music forever. They sing is Icelandic, but they own.

Listen to Untitled #8

Muse, like someone said earlier, is heavily influenced by Radiohead. (The greatest rock band ever)

muse is an amazing band... blows radiohead out of the water. check out these songs for a sample of their brilliance:

- Sunburn

- Muscle Museum

- Endlessly

- Bliss

Muse really are great, when they coming out with a new album? /me wants more!!!

Nothing special, imo. Sounds too much like radiohead to me.

Yeah, everyone says that. I really can`t see why, whith the exception of the production on Showbiz.

the difference being, radiohead sucks lmao. muse is more upbeat, less ambient/emo-depressing. their songs are much more enjoyable and much more memorable. they have way more musical talent than radiohead, imo, they play everything from slow and depressing, to head-banging rock. and every song they have kicks ass. they are a brilliant band, and they kick total ass live. :E

Yeah. Plus, their live stuff is awesome too. They make EVERY, and I mean, EVERY song sound as if their lives was depending on it. Their massive sound is truly something to experience live. You wouldnt believe a guitar, a bass and drums could sound this huge and monumental.

I like a few of their songs:

Time is Running Out
Bliss
House of The Rising Sun

Which is pretty good because I am often picky towards what I like from a certain band. The only group that I like pretty much all of their songs is The Red Hot Chili Peppers.

Which is why I never buy cd's..

I have heard New Born before, I don't know where but I like it a lot.

Thanks for this, these guys rock.

personally, i'm tired of every band being compared to readiohead.. usually it's not even an accurate comparison. however, in this case it is :) i don't like either of the songs posted, mainly b/c of the vocals. but also, it just kinda sounds like the band is trying too hard, imo. it's like "hey let's take some generic piano bashing and put some generic minor-key pop over it.. yay, oh and don't forget the thom yorke impersonator! keke". they're borrowing glassian minimalism in both of those songs.. not really a new thing but it's somewhat less common than the rest of their sound :|
