So far, i've bought great games for my computer (bar BF2142, which lags like hell), including Counterstrike, HL2 [+ all episodes], TF2, Age of Empires 3 and Medival Total War 2.

Each have given me hours of gameplay.

One thing that I have noticed over the past year or two, is that with games such as HL2, I dont EVER replay the singleplayer. However good they are, I only end up playing the story once.

This is why i'm looking for 1 or 2 GOOD online games. Games which I will play for hours, and hours. I've read loads of reviews to try and help me, but I would really like some of your opinions.

Thanks.

well tf2 keeps me going but you have that...
call of duty 4 multiplayer is amazing, very addictive, it has a rpg system of evolving your character and weapons to your preference.
World in conflict multi is good, but wont last long.
UT3 is coming out soon, that'll be great.
oh and dod:source

Dod: source is the only online game Ive played consistently since it was released and I loved the original. Maybe you would like quake wars? or gears of war? Both of them Ive heard are damn good.

It depends entirely on what you want out of your online gaming experience. There are plenty of "great" games out there, yet many of them you would find loathsome, as they cater to different audiences and style of gamer.

Case in point: Quake III Arena and Unreal Tournament are both considered to be classic games. They both had (and Q3 still has) a large, loyal fanbase yet most Q3 players detest UT and most UT players detest Q3.

I'd have to say Diablo(2), Starcraft, Half-Life *All*, Team Fortress 2, Total Annihilation, Quake1-3, Doom *except 3*, Lost Vikings

To name the few off the top of my head.

If you like strategy these are brilliant multiplayer and all very different from each other:
Command & Conquer: Red Alert 2
Command & Conquer: Generals
Company of Heroes

You could always consider an MMO like World of Warcraft or Eve Online, however be warned that MMOs can be highly addictive and can eat your life away.

I forgot to mention that I dont really want an MMO.

I've told myself not to even try WoW, simlpy because i've read that so many people get addicted to it. I had a 2 week-trial of EVE. It was a very good game, but i'd rather not pay a subscription.

I've heard that Crysis + CoD4 are both really great games, but I dont know how their multi-player compares.

The magazine I recently bought (PcZone) says that next issue there will be a DVD included which features: CoD4, Crysis & UT3. Hopefully i'll figure which one I want then.

Thanks for all the advice.
