Which one
WMP 11 is awful and I'm looking for something more reliable - preferably one player that can handle DivX, Quicktime, Realplayer and Avi formats
I'm looking at VLC player but what is the best all rounder?

I'm a fan of Media Player Classic. Don't let the name or appearance fool you this has nothing to do with Microsoft and it plays all of the formats you mentioned. My only gribe with it is that its sound quality for DVDs isn't that great so I use PowerDVD for DVDs.

iTunes! Oh, no one from apple is looking? Then go with quicktime

VLC will play things that Media player classic doesn't, but has downsides in it's ease of use when using the default skin.

but I assume it is skinnable
and Tyguy - Quicktime??? what are ya smokin'? :p

Anyone use Mplayer? On paper it looks very good

Go for VLC, it plays most everything.

I use WMP for playlists and things, but for movies in all the formats of the rainbow, VLC is your biatch.

I use an older version of bs player for video and qcd for audio.

Im just pulling his leg, i usually use WMP... :E

Hmm just trying VLC at the moment - seems a bit buggy and I can't force it to open at full screen. Although it has opened everything I've thrown at it so far....The user friendliness of it is a bit lacking but I'll give it a shot to complement WMP

I have yet to like to use VLC.

Weird enough, I've found that for a video player, Creative MediaSource is amazing.

I use winamp for music and any short clip/trailers whatever movies i have. However i use VLC for real movies and longer movies or movies with a different type of format. VLC can play almost anything. Windows Media player i only use when VLC and Winamp are bitching.

WMP 11 is my personal choice for music. I love how it sorts music with the album art. It could be faster though.

Yeah, it isn't all that friendly. Odd about the fullscreen issue - I just doubleclick the pane and it works for me

The best one?
My own personal one that I made. I love my newest build.

Windows Media Player for me. Has the best audio codecs, imo. I've tested a few, and WMP offers the most crisp and clear sounds when using 5.1 DTS.:afro: It also has the best equalizer for those who are technical about their sound.
