"Yes, Half-Life 2 is not the perfect game. No game is, especially one that tries to take on the ambitious task of simulating elements of the real world, but once you take Half-Life 2 in the context of what it is and what it excels in, as opposed to what you thought it might be or could be, then it's startlingly clear that we're dealing with the game of the year. Never before has a game shouted 'ten out of ten' to us from the opening seconds to the last, and if this is a sign of what's to come in the next generation, then we're not likely to be changing our hobbies any time soon. If there's another game out there capable of evoking such consistently bewildering and dizzying excitement then we're not aware of it."

Frankly, I couln't agree more. HL2 may have short commings, large load times, ok story, not so exceptional A.I. - but then what it really had set out to do - which is to create a believable realistic and interactive world - it succeeds by a tenfold!

Couldn't agree more, my jaw literally hit the floor actually being placed in the world, it looked amazing, and then you can run and like pick glass bottles up and smash them over the heads of people. What more can you want.

I found the load times resonable... and my hd might as well be a 40,000 floppy disks

shyea, i agree, but i dont know why eveyrbody thinks the game didnt have good AI, thats the best AI i've played. They weren't to accurate with shooting, but they knew what they were doing

i agree, when i play the game and interact with the people and surroundings, it feels as if i am really there, this game makes every game before it seem genric

i agree, its the best AI ive seen in a game.

The AI is pretty good, but I think Halo and FarCry had better AI.

That said, HL2 is clearly GOTY in my eyes.. and I haven't even beaten Nova Prospekt yet.

The AI is fine, the problem is there health is so low compared to the power of your weapons, there to easy to drop in some cases, Running through on hard mode with low health, sure brings it out better, ive had trouble hiding a few times.

The story is take it or leave it, you either get valves narrative style or you dont, its certainly more intriguing than most, as for load times, there working out shorter than Doom3's.

I think the AI is great, best in any game. They may not be so hard to beat, but that's because they don't do ridiculous damage or have loads of armor. But they all act great.

And don't forget it isn't just soldiers running around, but the alien AI is pretty damn good too, especially the antlion's.

I first played on normal. I thought the AI was some of the best. I mean striders didn't auto know where i was.(I could go into a tunnel, run back out and the strider would be going twords the end of the tunnel only to eventually see me as he turned.

I seen 1 fast zombie dude run up at me, another one around the car and got me from behind.

I love the AI, they take cover and everything.

The AI really depends on sight, smell(?), and sound. They don't auto know where you are or anything. There intelligent and the AI fits each character.
Like a zombie isn't obvioulsy as smart as a combine solider. Makes perfect sense.

Though the health could be pumped up a bit.
They should have a difficulty modifier. So you could edit in %(can go over 100%) on how much damage\health\etc..they all have and you.

Kinda like when you beat goldeneye you can go buy it what was the mode called? You could edit how good the enemy was etc..
