Does anyone else love this show as much as I do?

It's one of those shows that I really don't want to end soon, I'm hoping there will be a season 4 but I haven't heard anything.

I didn't actually watch the first 3 seasons on TV as I didn't think I would be interested in it, but I recently borrowed my sisters season one DVD and was hooked, buying seasons one and two. Now I have to wait until at least November to get season 3 on DVD :(. hopefully if there is a season 4 I can watch season 3 before it screens on TV here.

So, what do you guys think of the show?

I thought it looked boring as hell so I never really watched it.

Meh. Funny at times, relies too much on tired cliches though.

The only current comedy show I really watch. It's pretty good but I'm not fanatical about it.

Penny is...stupidly hot.

Sheldon is the comical reason why I watch, he has some classic lines.

Its funny but can be a little dull sometimes. I Wouldnt say it was my favourite show, but I would always sit down to watch it if it was on or someone wanted to.

I like the part where they make a nerd reference.

Which particular episode are you referring to? I do not recall them ever making such a reference.

Yeah I enjoy it. The physics isn't anything special, but if they used higher level stuff, it'd be harder to make jokes with.
If you like it, check out the British show 'The IT Crowd'. It's almost the same format, but with IT Technicians instead of physics people.

Would be better without the retarded laugh tracks that plague every god damned sitcom.

Its weird without it though.

Even watching films. I didnt find Borat anywhere near as funny as I did when I watched it in a packed cinema with a bunch of mates. Everyone errupting, it just makes it that much more funny.

Yeah IT crowd is WAY better imo

I like watching the show, although it's not particularly great. I get laughs out of it (mostly due to Sheldon) and because of that I can overlook the pedestrian science (if it was more complex the American public wouldn't understand it anyway so the attempt at scientific humor is admirable anyway) and the painfully cliche, ultra-sitcom nature of it.

I mostly watch it while I'm bored, I do recommend it as far as sitcoms go but it's not tremendously spectacular or anywhere near my top 20 favorite TV series.

I do really wish it didn't have a laugh track though.

I enjoy watching this show, so I try to see as many of the episodes as I can. I normally hate laugh tracks, but I think the show might be weird without it.

it's ok I guess. Sheldon is hit an miss. sometimes the nerdom fits and other times it seems forced or awkward. pretty much the rest of the cast should be let go (except the other nerd guy who isnt the main nerd guy)

also middle eastern/east asian Fez isnt that funny

also there's a live studio audience:

you guys think every show uses a laugh track ..and you would be correct HOWEVER you also think they use it exclusively when in reality laugh tracks are used to beef up studio audiences laugh or for outdoor scenes. the fact that 90% of what goes on in Big Bang theory is in Sheldon's apartment should tip you off that there's a reason why they use one set a majority of the time

Absolutely love(d) it. I have all the episodes & watch them regularly (about 10 times each, according to my Playstation).

But I get so f*cking sick of Sheldon sometimes; in the newer seasons he's been dumbed down to a regular American sitcom's style of comedy. Which is essentially him acting out in ridiculous ways. (eg. 314 - The Einstein Approximation).

Haven't seen season 3, it's a shame if they have changed his character.

Season 1 and 2 were pure brilliance, American comedy at its very finest. With season 3, however, we started to see the that the concepts behind the show were getting old, and plot lines were getting repetitive. They should end it after season 4, IMO.

I dunno...I think even if the formula stayed the same with different dialogue it would never get old for me. I guess this show just hit me in the right spot.

Season 3 is definitely the weakest, and is absolutely more of a cliched sitcom, especially with the Leonard / Penny drama, but there are still some good moments through it as well. Like Sheldon trying to change Penny with positive reinforcement, the return of Leonard's mother, or the episodes with Evil Wil Wheaton.

I think I forgot to watch the season finale.

If you think this show is American comedy at its very finest you need to watch Arrested Development or Freaks and Geeks.

Ah yes, Arrested Development has given me a few laughs too.

Oh he's the same guy, he's still a genius. But he is much less subtle in his cleverness. He becomes such a jerk to everybody, it's painful to watch.

Although I must say I find Wolowitz to be an absolute treasure chest of laughs. I rewatched all the episodes again & rather than watching Sheldon (which I'm sure is what everybody does) I watched Wolowitz, & you notice over time how funny he really is.

I too am a big fan of Wolowitz and also Raj. While it was apparent in season 3 that most of the laughs were focused on Sheldon, I find that two actually have more subtle but stronger humor, since it is not as forced or expected.

I disagree with Raj. I find him (in most cases) to be f*cking annoying, really whiny. I cringed so bad at the spoonfed jokes in 316 - The Excelsior Acquisition. A shirt with a speaker in it? Please.

I enjoy the parts where Wolowitz shouts entire sentences to his mother despite occupying the same living space as her. Haha, that doesn't normally happen.

The IT Crowd is better than TBBT by miles.
But then again I'm a real fanboy for British comedy over American comedy.
