The big religion chart!

Christianity sees Free Masonry as worship of Satan.

Interesting list though.

If i was forced to follow one it would be Deepak Chopra.

"Yoga, meditation, massage, nutrition, mindfulness, detox sessions, positive thinking." i could live with those

Btw, hazar, i love the bear thing doing breakdancing in your avatar.

Atheism isn't a religion but they don't provide any links or information on the subject so I take it they know what their talking about.

The "Origins & History" section is also mislabled.

Instead of "Appears in history, but especially after the Enlightenment (19th cent)." it should read "13.7 billion years old, with an uncertainty of 200 million years."

The "Human Situation and Life's Purpose" should be labled with "none" as the lack of theism does not mean you have to help others or solve the worlds problems.

8 million Scientologists, bloody hell.

Atheism really doesn't belong up on that chart, nor should there be any "Life's Purpose" section for it. Nothing about atheism entails anything of the sort.

Aside from that, it's pretty interesting.

Only 6,5 million jehova's witnesses worldwide? Bloody hell, I knew they had good marketing but this is insane!

Theres only 14 million jewish people on earth? That surprises me...

And man... 1 billion atheists vs 2 billion christians?! I would of expected a much larger difference in numbers!

It's kind of misleading. Buddhists, for instance, can be atheists. Scientologists... well, there is that old galactic overlord badass (sheesh), but I don't think they see him as a god per se. And it's also including non-religious. Not having a religion doesn't make you an atheist, as a religion is a system of doctrines and practices. You can still believe a god or gods exist without that.

In any case though, I find that number fairly reassuring.

atheism really cant be in that list if we're speaking of a list of RELIGIONS, and not simply "practices".

a religion, according to the definition, must have a supernatural being, spiritual leader, or institutionalized system with belief and worship. none of which atheism really has...

atheism is what is called a 'doctrine', not a religion

I feel it is my responsibility, as moderator of these forums, to order an immediate discontinuation of any and all discussion involving the classification of athiesm and it's relation to any and all common definitions of religion right ****ing NOW.

Those of you who know why will be thankful; the rest of you should consider yourselves lucky.

lets have them rename it The Big Religion, Philosophy, or General Belief and Practices Chart :D lol

Ditto.

It seems obvious when you look at that list that religions are pure inventions of men to give themselves a reason to live.

Come on, it'll be fun!

My favorite: Purpose of life is to fulfill one's role in society with propriety, honor, and loyalty. (Confusciousism)

And the church of the heavenly way?

Atheism isn't a religion, and in fact, they have no beliefs in any kind of Gods.

I was probably thinking of the Catholics. They don't like many things.

Yah, Catholics have a myriad of legalistic regulations with no basis in Scripture.
Not surprisingly, I don't know of one catholic who follows all of them.

argh, catholics are so backwards in their thinking

Lol for a second there I thought you were responding to me :P I was like WTF

Baha'i Faith seems like an awesome religion and logical too.
