the black towers in the movies

let's discuss what they are, i'm so curious wtf they are... have 'rich and important' people moved into those giant towers that seem to go right into the sky and perhaps into space? why do they move and shift for no reason, discuss!

p.s. i hope somebody hasn't already started a thread about those towers, if so, my bad...

Going to earth in a traditional UFO is too 20th century for the style conscious aliens the Combine are working with.

too risky. By their very nature they are relatively thin strands of super strong filliaments. Not massive fortress towers. Which means that some jackass could pull a 9/11 and wham! there goes 30 billion dollars and probably a good number of lives aswell.

Or what if theres an earthquake? It'd sure suck to be up at the top of the space elevator when the line starts shakin' like that. It'd be like sitting on the end of a jumprope while some shakes it up and down. Even if it didn't actually break, it would still probably kill anyone in the space station @ the top.

Guess I shouldn't say never, but certainly not in the next 50 or 75 years.

Well, surround the the whole complex with loads of automated SAM-sites and you're pretty well protected.

I love any and all pictures/videos of the combine fortress. I think it's the coolest thing ever, especially if the map design is made so that it actually does devour the entire city as you play through. Also (even though there are no cut scenes) I think it'd be great to see a movie/picture of what it looks like from above, devouring the city and all. *drool just thinkin about it*

The combine fortress is indeed one of the most interesting things in the storyline, and i guess it'll play a big part in the mystery that's known to us as G-Man and Xen.
