I have a 32 inch JVC TV. Sure, it may be a few years old, and it may have only one S-Video input, and it may not support progressive scan, and I may have to unhook my DVD player everytime I want to play my Gamecube, but it serves me well... ;(

That is, until one fateful day when I pressed the power button, and the TV made a clicking noise and didn't turn on. Rinse and repeat, keep clicking and clicking, and maybe if you're lucky the TV will turn on. Today, while I was listening to music, I kept the button pressed for an entire hour until the TV finally came on.

Any ideas what's going on here? I can hear the clicking noise right now... It's driving me insane...

oh noes!
haha something like this happened to my last tv
one time we were watching it...
then it sizzled (litterally) and died
then if u pressed the power button, it would just try to turn on, make the turning on sound, but not turn on
it made me sad :(

then the tv before that had this problem where the colors would go totally wack (like only red and blue)
so we had to wack the tv to make it normal again

i guess my tv's just have a lot o' problems in the brain region

our solution:
Replace the damn b****!
...unless you cant afford one

a old TV of ours had the somewhat same problem, we contacted a repair man but he told us it would cost a shit load to fix it and adviced us to just buy a new one, i say the same thing to you.... that or you could sponge a TV off of your folks ;)

Its f**ked? That cud be a possibility.

Or maybe it's become self-aware, and no longer wants to serve as ur slave....

This works with computers sometimes. Try completely unplugging it from the electricity then press and hold in the power button for 60 seconds.

After 60 seconds/when your finger has turned blue, plug it back into the electricity and try and power it on. Worth a try ;/

I've had this happen to my 46" Big screen

I'm pretty sure, but not positive it is the power supply
It will finally stop working all together if not already.
You need to take it to a T.V. Repair shop
Expect at least $50.
Belive it or not,,,... they fix t.v.'s there!!!
Thats what they do i tell you!

My old tv lost it's sound but the display was fine so I was like fine then you suck tv...so one day i got pissed and smacked the side and boom the sound came back..so when I needed it to work I just smacked it. This worked fine for awhile but as time went by smacking wouldn't do the job. In the end, I went crazy and took a hammer to it which resulted in the screen cracking and sparks flying out and it made weird sizzling sounds..that was the end of that tv.

so I was like fine then you suck tv
Now that is profound.

I've been doing some research on this, and more likely than not, my problem is due to a defective capictor that is known to be a problem in similar models. It usually goes out in about 5-6 years, which happens to be how long I've had mine. Apparently I can buy one at Radioshack for about a buck or two, but I'll need to take off the back of the TV and solder the part on. Scary stuff.

hey thats why the internet is so great, you can find other people who have the same problems, soldering is actually a little hard but you can do it.

Make sure the solder is light, if you put it on too heavy it may touch other parts of the circuit board its not supposed to.

BTW I recall having to hit the side of my T.V. too that worked for a few months.
