Perhaps because I've already played a somewhat similar game in Riddick, The Darkness doesn't give off quite the same "this is amazing, and you absolutely must play it" vibe that Riddick did. But it also feels like a more polished game, and the base mechanics work extremely well by the time you reach the end of the single-player campaign. It doesn't quite have Riddick's pacing, due to the open city that asks you to find your own way through, but it presents a better feeling of accomplishment and familiarity by the end.

can't wait to play this

Sounds good. Another game to add to the huge list of games to be played.

There isn't enough time in the day :/

I am disappointed that this game has nothing to do with the British pop-thrash-metal group of the same name.

I looked forward to the prospect of a game in which I could carve my way through critics and members of superior bands with a flying-V guitar, mind-breaking falsetto vocals and pugnacious jibes at other musicians based on a false sense of superiority.

I have been let down.

Was already on my to get list. I cant decide if i should get it for the ps3 or the xbox 360..

Choose the one with the MUCH better pad for fps ;)

*hugs Warbie*
EEEEEH, EEEEH, EEEEEH! HOMOSEXUALITY ALERT, ALL MEN HETEROSEXUALS MAN YOUR BATTLESTATIONS!

Anyway, it sounds nice, I loved Riddick, and the fact that this game is done by Starbreeze, a studio that is composed mainly of Swedish people located in Sweden, I feel sorta obligated to buy it.

Bah. Overlord or The Darkness? I cant play both at once! :x

btw, that's 1up not eurogamer. :p /fix

Can't agree with every review. 1up are one of the better sites out there imo.

1UP almost always rates everything below average. The fact they like The Darkness must mean something.

They're idiots.

"The snakeheads can be used to attack and also solve puzzles."

Cool. Never thought I'd see the day in gaming where you could turn to your left and go "Snake head #1, what do you think we should do?"

it probably wont be much of a surprise
solid single player experience, nice graphics, unique gameplay mechanics and forgettable multiplayer
worth renting i would say

i was looking forward to this game, but unfortunately they made the release date 1 day before rainbowsix vegas (ps3). damn you sony, how dare u release 2 fps's at the same time then give me virtually no new fps's over the summer. *shakes fist in anger*

ign give it a 7.8... i dunno whether to pick it up tbh, wonder what gs will say.

in the vid review he says that the otherworld is like a hellish ww2 where you are fighting zombie nazis....its actually ww1, the guy sounds like a douche tbh reviewing it.

On a totally unrelated note, should I pick up a DS Lite and Pokemon Diamond?

I'll wait for a demo, due to the fact I'm skint right now and I'll be putting the last of this months pay into RE4.

It does look good, but I think this may become the first game I've rented in years.

No. It really wasn't. A 7 at best. Definitely not a 9.

Anyway, I just beat the Darkness today and it was quite satisfactory. Though the ending becomes a bit "show, not do."

I just started playing, so far it's good though.
