Just got back from cinema (The Girl Next Door - pretty good film)
Anyway as usual, the trailers before the film are better than the film itself...

Check this out:

http://www.thedayaftertomorrow.com/

It's called 'The Day After Tomorrow' and the trailer looks awesome. Set in the not-so-distant future it tell the story of the weather gone wrong, with tornadoes in cities and 200ft waves hitting new york city. Some breathtaking visual effects, worth checking out.

What you ppl think?

It looks silly and all, but I'll probably go to see it some day when its too hot to do anything else.

alreayd posted on the forums, but still seems interesting.... but 1st, KB Vol.2 and The Punisher

ahh yea that film looks cool :) im ok coz i work at the cinama so ill get to see it for free :)

and im might be seeing the staff preview of Kill bill 2 on thurseday i think... they are going to be playing KB 1 followed by KB 2 sounds really cool :) tis gunna be finishing really late though

I hate this types of films, everyone dies, and the end is usually really depressing.

I first heard about this when one of those big Gamespy ads that you have to see and click a little tiny text link to get to where you're going popped up in front of me.Pobz's flown a plane!

yea i saw a preview for that couple months ago when i saw matrix revolutions...looks really cool. I like movies where either they go to mars or something or its judgement day. OR some kind of end of world movie like armageddon

i think it looks good, i like post-apocalyptic type stuff. The fall of society cause it'll probably happen some day and its fascinating to see deserted cities and stuff. I like depressing movies, they're usually closer to how things really are in life. Life is depressing :(

Only if you let it be depressing...

And how many times has the world ended in the past 100 years?

I am looking forward to see this movie.

And how many times has the world ended in the past 100 years?
You could say how many times has the world (NEARLY) ended in the past 100 years?

Very well...However, you cant really say its nearly ended n amount of times because it didnt and we dont really know how close it has come. And how close is close?

Oh, and i love films like this :D

Hehe...as a side note I'm reading through "Hitchhiker," a biography of Douglas Adams, and its really good.
Ooo..my "42" shirt just came in the mail. (No, really)

It's unrealistic.

I hated Armaggedon & Deep Impact & the Core & other 1000's of "Apoc movs" b/c they were unrealistic. Independence Day stays as one of the msot realistic ( at least the invasion part).

Movies don't have to be realistic, they just have to be believable in a way that allows for immersion, just like games.

Actually that movie is quit realistic, since it's based on the theory that melting polar icecaps will raise sealevels and halt the gulf stream, and so disrupting the weather thruoght the atlantic region.

You feel on it too?

The kind of storms they suggest are more probable not to happen , exactly the opposite..... (read it somewhere, gonna try to find the mag )

Yeah, but it's a theory, wich I find probable.

It's a complete over exageration of what might happen... too the place all the heat and moister might go if the current stops which i don't think is America.

The tidal wave however could happen to New York, there's some Islands opposite it that could collapse and cause a humongus wave, which isn't just some wacked theory but something that has been proven on a smaller scale.

Yeah, but I said it was BASED on that theory :p But if they made it 100% realistic it would be boring.

Especially sicne if it was 100% realistic it would be over a pretty large space of time...

Oh come on...its the point of all these movies not to be realistic. Thats why they're more fun than watching a documentary. So they fudge the science sometimes for dramatic effect, you'll see that in almost any movie of the type.

Thing is, its realistic withing the universe the film is set. Im sure that giant alien bugs arent very realistic, but in nthe starship troopers universe they are very real.

This film follows its own facts perfectly :) Im sure they took an existing theory and exaggerated it, or perhaps they took a theory that shows this happening. Im hoping they arent trying to "prove a point" about what we are doing to hte world, because if they are then perhaps its story is far fetched.

but yeah...its a film so it really doesnt matter so long as its entertaining.

Pah! Realism! I pay no more heed to realism in the media than I do in real life.

just another of these 'nature-catastrophe-movies' with a massive overload of special effects.. not interesting at all.
