Its the 25:th, and now is the day everyone in Scandinavia goes out to see friends, spend time with the family, drink, eat wicked good food.... and dance... around wooden penises.

Im not joking. It's also the lightest day of the year.

We sing and dance around these... penises, and having a great time.

Man... are we weird or what?

Did i mention that we wear odd cloths and play music?

Pics!

I think its funny to meet people from like the UK on Midsommar... they dont know wtf this is :) So funny to see them standing there... just watching.

I dont think I will be out dancing today.. bad weather. I will be spending time with the family instad and eat some great tasting food... like every year.

and i thought us islamic people had wierd cultural occassions

but really, what is the occasion, is it just a day when scandinavians just mess around? what's the back story behind it

Around here we usaly get shotguns and go shoot fish at the lake. :)

I dont know, It sounds like you guys have fun.

damn, america is so void of real culture, your lucky

it's kinda like dancing around a maypole here in england. although i can't remember the last time i saw any kids doing that, must've been about 15 years ago when i was still a youngster.

anyway, have fun and drink one for us :)

Yeah it's a really stupid tradition :) My family went to some public castle today to celebrate it but I was half-dead when they woke me so I didn't come along :D

uhh...what do the wooden penises represent.....i had to ask

They used to be there (think it was the Vikings) because they thought it would make them more fertile. Or something. No wonder they're not around anymore :E
