Hello everyone.

Im not sure if everyone knows what .Dev is, so let me explain it for you. The .Dev site will be a part of www.halflife2.net. We're aiming to make the .Dev site the ultimate source for Half Life 2 editing on the net, but we need help from the public to make it happen.

.Dev will works like a "wiki". Members can add tutorials, articles, mods and links to the site, so the whole site depends on you guys.

The site goes into the final testing stage right now, and we need people to write articles/tutorials for it so we have something on the site when it goes public.

You can write what you want, aslong as it got something to do with the Source and how to mod it.

Write me an email if you got a article/tutorial or if you got any questions (you can also PM me with questions):

[email protected]

Cheers!

Isn't writing articles about modding Source a little bit premature? Articles and tutorials for modelling and such I can imagine, but about Source? Either way, can you give us a few examples of what you might want?

Well, i mean articles/tutorials about everything you need to know about modding. You can do tutorials/articles for mod design, modelling, skinning and so on.

It will hopefully be a huge database with information about how to mod Halflife2.

I got a mod design article coming up for the site.

What about writing?

Not sur, but it's the only thing I'm good at....

That would be awesome.

Pendragon:

I wrote about that in the first article in my series, but we need more (so they understand :)) so that would be awesome too.

Thanks guys :)

Edit:

And oh,

The writers will be the first people to know when the site is online so they can register first and add the articles/tutorials. So write some tutorials/articles if you want a good place in the member list :)

Hmm...I sense disbelief....

Anyway, I'll PM you with the details...

You are wrong my friend. More people will join a mod if it got a well written and a good story, no question about that. Even I want to read about it (im writing a singleplayer mod so it would be great to learn some new things :D)

1.2.3.4.5.6.7

Thats how much times you used "write" and variatons...

...writing ... writing ... writer ... write ... write ... wrote ... write

And I'm not going to teach ppl about writing, I'm going to give guidelines that can be followed or not. You can start a whole new style if you want. And I'm going to use lots of help from other great writers I know (not to say that I'm one)

The trick there is writing an article about writing. You have to be a damn good writer to educate others on how to write well. As to the article I was going to write, I'd have to know what you wrote to know what else to write, but I'd be happy to if you'd send me yours.

Edit: Not sure if you talked to me :) Anyways... im going to bed now...

Im writing a series about everything I do in a mod, writing and leading. So im trying to get everything down there. How to get a good idea, how to get it on paper, how to make the first public announcement and all the way to leading and releasing the mod.

I just got the first draft written down... ill email it to you.

once the sdk comes out I'ld be glad to make an attempt at some tutorials for beginning mappers :)

Yeah... a guide on mod leading would be extremely good, mostly because (I am going to shoot myself in the foot here) "Rebellion" is the first mod team I've ever lead.

/me listens to the sound of Rebellion slipping away :p

Meh, OES is the first mod I've ever led, but I seem to be going about it the right way ;)

ye, I am doing the hl2 mapping tutorials for the steampowered site. Might as well do the same for that one, just gimmi the SDK and I will make some :P Also I will get the mapping team in CA to make some as well, since me and Molag got to know each other thought making mapping tutorials and ended up working together :P

Why not a model tut Ichi?

(The "How to make synth ejaculate" and "MajesticXII is not leet!" tutorials we got now needs some work)
