LOL, now I played hl1 again, I finally understand the ending of HL², its perfect, it couldnt have been more better, because the general idea is this!

In part one, you got the choice of becomign a tool to the gman, or die.

In part two, the gman uses you strictly as a tool, he supervises your actions trougout the game, and once the job is done, you his posession again. Thats the whole deal, to give you the feeling that you are just a tool, that whatever freedom you think you might have, to have been non existend.

It simply rocks now. KICK ASS

Lol, at least you aren't a kid who dosen't understand it, and therefore, has an anger fit

Good on 'ya

Holy crap you have 10,000 posts...where do you get the free time...

But yeah, the ending rocks ass, but i hating the credits music. I prefer the music to the original Hl ending

That wouldn't be recommended, my Llama friend :E ...

Anyhoo, from reading this thread I still dont understand what EXACTLY did you...ummm...understand? :|

Ending is the best ever. I've heard people say "OMG they must have thrown that together in half an hour" and I want to beat them repeatedly around the head.

I think a lot of players who think the ending sucks don't know that Half-Life 3 is coming.

It's a stylished ending, but I was a bit dissapointed because it left so many questions unanswered. In my opinion Half-Life 2 basically just works as an intro to the third part.

Wow...I haven't posted in this forum in a long ass time.

You know whats funny guys....

....I haven't even played HL2 yet.

Why are ya'll looking at me like that? :|

you should be ashamed of yourself, Tron.

now go to your room and don't come out until you have finished hl2.
:p

Well...I don't have any money to buy hl2 and my comp sucks ass.

So yea...go me!

the one 'freeman' :p yeah I just beat the game yesterday and realized how much it rocked. The ending is as good as any other sci-fi game ending, except better. Half-Life 2 really puts you in the hot seat.

HL2 = Matrix Reloaded

lets just hope HL3 doesnt = Matrix Revolutions.

reloaded set the scene, and put you in bewildered awe with the amazing action sequences, set pieces, and Techno babble and raised so many questions you figured would be answered in number3.

But werent.

lets hope HL3 learns from the mistakes of hollywood.

I understood it the first time through. The problem is it doesn't reveal any information about city 17 or why the gman put you there or who the gman even is.

If they did that then the appeal of the G-Man would be destroyed. We have to wait till 'The End' to find out.

Part of the reason why Half-life is so successful is the mystery of the GMAN. You take that away you change half-life. Sorry all yu lazy people but the story isn't going to be spoon fed to you. If you played the game and observed every detail you would clearly have a better understanding of why GMAN put you there and the information about City17. Valve did something genious in this game. From the begining they said that you are Gordan Freeman. What better way to make you associate yourself with the character then to feel what he feels. And they succeeded with everyone who played it.. especially the people who whine about how the ending sucks(even though in truth it doesn't). Do you think that Gordan is all happy and sappy about the way the game ended? Hell no he's pissed the **** off... just like everyone else who played the game through his eyes. But most people do not understand that this was the intent of the game and those that do see the Beauty of it.

Well the ending of HL1 was better because the gman came up and said "Xen is now under our control" giving you a little more info on what happened to xen. Nothing was mentioned about city 17 and the ending didn't answer too many questions IMO. BTW I have beaten the game 4 times and I'm up to highway 17 for my 5th runthrough. I'm definitely getting my moneys worth (plus mods such as substance and garrys mod for free, plus counter strike source)

I wouldn't be surprised if we still don't know who the gman is at the end of HL3

The whole reason for leaving so many unanswered questions is to make you want HL3 sooooooooooooooo bad you'll be in line to buy it 24 hours before it is released (or pay for it via steam 24 weeks before it is released).

IMO HL2 did it right when it came to loose ends. Not everything was answered, and I liked that. It answered just enough to keep me satisfied. The ending actually felt like a kind of ending, whereas Halo 2 seemed leave off in the very middle of the story.

Soul Reaver suffered from the same thing.

That would've sucked big time :dozey:
All that past tense...makes me think you've played it....Your from the future aren't you?

I think I'm one of the few people who loved the ending the first time I saw it. I thought it was perfect. However, the original poster certainly did an excellent job summarizing it one concise paragraph.

The ending was the perfect climax to the gaming orgy that was HL2!

"Yes! Wah? Wow!" = Blew up the portal thingy - realised there'd been a big ass explosion - realised it was the end of the game.

I just sat back in my seat...spent! :)

/Me hands you a gold medal.

Now i shall do the same, and hope i get a gold medal too.

But........how?! How could you not?!
I guess the game's storyline and some scenes have been spoiled for you?

On topic, I love the ending. I've beaten the game twice now and got goosebumps each time the GMan appeared after the explosion. The story is just so good, I wanna cry!

In my opinion, this ending wasn't special, grand or epic and it could've been done in half an hour, but one thing's for sure: It was needed.

Never thought of it like that....
but it makes sense. Anyway i've always loved the ending simply because of how well it was pulled off...just so ****ing good.
Any other game would've done it with a movie or cinematic but you're still in control and you can move around, so cool.
And it also feels like your playing the end of a movie, so damn cool. If they did this with Halo 2, that game could've been so much better simply by doing this.

@tron:
do we all need 5000+posts to be allowed to buy and play the game?
I guess I was not worthy:)

Yes. Yes you do need +5000 posts.

I got the CD, and when I was installing it. A barrage of arrows flew towards my face, after miracuasly surviving thanks to Panda blood. An arrow said "Get some more posts, bitch" on a small note. :|

Now I understand, why my Pentium I exploded me trying to install the game. All the vents flew off of my VOODOO 5 behaving like manhacks in my room.... It was only because I did not have enough posts....tststs :dork:

Yea, this other time.

An otter came running through my window screaming at me because I didn't have +5000 posts... I had a long and tough battle with him and in the end, he chopped off my tail.
