Windows XP SP2, Pentium 4 2.8gb, 1280mb RAM, GeForce 7300 GT (256 MB), etc. etc.
So, I downloaded HL2EP2 by Steam, it worked perfectly fine, I've beat a lot of the game on its first run. Then I shut it down, went to do something else etc, came back, and woah, the game won't load.
I launch the game by the steam app. The game 'itself' does load, but I only get to see the loading screen, and nothing else. So I wait and wait for the loading screen to buzz off so I can see the main menu and play, but unfortunately, the game just shuts down. No error notification, nothing, I just get to see my desktop again.
The guy in this thread had a similar problem (and a similar gaming rig). I used every advice in that thread, but nothing helped.
Any ideas?
