Maybe this has been posted before, but I had to go for it.

Anybody ever notice all the green eyes in HL2? Sure, it's been pointed out over and over that Gordon and the G-Man have almost JENOVA-like unnatural green eyes (OMG a new conspiracy!), but have you looked at everybody else? Barney, Kleiner, Alyx, Eli, Mossman, Father Grigori (I think), every resistance fighter...every SINGLE ONE of them has green eyes. It's like a requirement of being a human character, practically.

Except Cubbage. (And he's the only main character who was seen speaking with the G-Man...hmm...)

It's a limitation of the matrix that HL2 occurs in.

Geek makesomethingup answer: It's possible that the combine selectively breed the humans, to get the best soldiers, or maybe just to create a breed of humans that converts to combine the most efficiently. Green eyes could just be tied with one of the genes they prefer their soldiers to have, or perhaps green eyes just accept the retinal modifications easier.

Realistic answer: Devs were just too lazy to change eye color for all the models.

my guess is the people at valve who designed the eyes is irish cuz he couldnt think of any other color to make the eyes. that or the designers in valve are working with the g-man, oooooo

I prefer the Jenova explanation.

And all their eyes are different shades of green, so you can't say the developers were being lazy. (come on, Valve is lazy?)

Perhaps it has something to do with the chemicals the Combine didnt allow to be created so that humans could not procreate...

perhaps green just looks most natural in source. I've always noticed how weird cubbage looks with blue eyes.

One thing I would like to see is more colour added to the whites of the eyes. I mean in Ep 1 Alyx is up for 48+ hours straight but her eyes arent bloodshot or anything.

I always thought that with the level of detail on the skin they could do betetr then pure white eyes.

They don't all have green eyes, for example, our good friend Dr. Breen has nice blue eyes. (See Here)
And much beloved Alyx has brown eyes, though with a greenish tint in certain lights. (See Here)
I am not really sure with Eli and Kleiner, but it appears that Eli has black (dark green??) eyes and Kleiner has yellow eyes? (See Kleiner Here and See Eli Here)
Grigori has brownish black eyes. (See Here)
And so only Mossman, G-Man, and Gordon of the main characters have gren eyes. I am not so sure about the resistance members though. I think they all have green eyes.
