Nothing special I'm afraid, just sketches practicing the human form in the oft seen concept style. Used a couple of small photo's as reference that a friend sent me.

In total I guess 30ish minutes on each or there abouts. Both done in Painter 8 at about 2000px wide, a lot lower than I normally would do them, but they are just quick sketches. The second one had a bit of glow and brightness added to it in Photoshop. Just thought I'd post them for the hell of it.

Some of the curves don't seem quite right to me, if I'd put more time into them I'd have gone back and fixed those. Thinking of doing them again as pencil style sketches and maybe in other styles and techniques

I'll try post something better next time, promise :) I've got one painting I'm working on, Dr Freeman's seen a section from it, but its nowhere near finished or ready to show in public yet and if I'm honest, I'm not all that happy with how its turning out neither so may scrap it completely.

Cheerio.

Very nice. Wow I need to get that program (or Adobe Illustrator). Those are beautiful.

Thanks guys :)

Photoshop is still a fantastic program. There's tons I can do in Photoshop I haven't a clue how to do in Painter, or just isn't possible to do. I just like the natural look of the brushes thats possible in Painter. But for anything else I prefer Photoshop, also its got a better airbrush than Painter has. And Painter's layers suck compared to Photoshop :D

A neat feature of Painter though, if you haven't got a drawing tablet there are ways you can edit brushes to behave more like they would if you did have one. I think thats really handy for anyone thinking about it but not wanting to spend hundreds of dollars

Very nice job Fenric! I like the first one best.

thanks Brian :)

oh hey sorry about not replying, been dead busy and my mail has been acting up a bit too, I'll get to it eventually, you know me lol

Excellent stuff. Love the shape of the buttocks.

Love the G-String tan line kinda thing.

Gigity Gigity, Gig-A-Ty.

I thought it were brushed photo's, but you actually drew this? Dude... :O

Wow man, you seriously need a better paying job...(if you havent got one already) because your damn good.

Was fun doing that bit *grins* ;)

yup all drawn. Here's a larger closeup of her back

jpeg compression screws it up a bit though :(

Here's one I was messing with last night, isn't finished though (well thats probably obvious :)). I did this far lower res than I'd normally do (posted actual size) I like the way the knuckles turned out but overall I think its too clean a hand to pass as someone who's just been in a big battle.

I haven't decided what he'll be holding yet, I considered a weapon but I'm not too sure. Bit cliche but it would fit in with the scares and marks on his knuckles that he's been fighting, or maybe a scoll of some sort. The yellow bits just above his wrist were going to be reflections from a piece of armor on his arm but I scrapped the first version of the armor as the reflections looked lame. Anyone got any suggestions? Weapon like say a large broadsword or give him a robe and a scroll to hold?

There's also a version with a small tattoo just above his thumb, but I may change that as I don't like how it looks, doesn't look like a proper tattoo

For the hand reference I found some pic on google images. Was "handy" ;) for getting the pose right, easier than trying to get the lighting right here and taking a photo of my own hand.

I think it was a fantasy weapon site, one of those with the replica daggers and such?, haven't looked through it all properly yet, I'm sure they'll be a neat sword design or two there though, need to dig up the url again though, bloody IE :(

very nice fenric....you shgould try out open canvas. you can make "event" that basicly is ust videos showing in the progem...very cooliness! a very simple program, but it has the best aibrush ever! :)

omg teh sw33t!

Seriously tho, those drawings are amazing. You could get paid alot of doh if you keep this up

quick sketch of Famke Janssen cause she's cute :)

Personally I don't think it looks anything like her lol. My bad for rushing it and trying to show off. There's a warning, showing off never yields good results :)

*slaps his own wrist*

Great work as usual Fen, and I like the sketch. I can see a resemblance, but I can also see your point about the not-resemblance. Either way, it's a high quality picture, just like all your others.

cheers :)

I like the eye's, did them first, the rest of the sketch I'm not keen on, more of a scribble than a sketch :)

The eyes and the area around them are definitely the best, probably because they're the only fully defined areas. I bet the rest would catch up if you finished it.

As to that being a scribble, I truly wish I could sketch that well. My chickenscratch tends to look like the work of a graffitti artist who is inhaling three times as much paint as he's using and was just doing some new drug.

One of the things about sketching digitally is its not as easy to get convincing smudging. If I sketch with a pencil and paper I can get a good smudging with my finger or thumb, hard to mimic that digitally without it looking too clean and artificial

Simply awesome images there, very nice brush technique. I gotta try Painter out...
Just a question; How do you work when drawing faces from photographs? I'm getting stubborn with it but I suck..

When I had dual monitors setup I'd put one image on one monitor and worked on the other. But since I scrapped having a dual setup I'll either flip back and forth from drawing canvass to photo and memories bits or squeeze them in in next to each other but there's not an awful lot of space to do that with Painters UI so usually flip back and forth and hope I get it right :)

hehe, can we get a good view from the front? lol, hell yeah i can see you in our local museum of art, and anyone who dont think thats good should go suck teh fat won! i can imagine a machine that puts blinds over it and the blinds say "insert coins to continue" and some little kid bringing like 100 dollars worth of quarters... lol but seriously dude thats some L337 shiZit!

EDIT: That hand should be holding a crowbar  hehe

After looking at your work Fenric all I have to say is, .... WOW. Just being able to draw such detailed drawings on computer blows my mind. I stared at the pencil sketch for quite some time thinking to myself, "Man, he did a really good job." Then I realized you did that on computer and my jaw dropped. Mad props man!!!! You have an amazing talent, I hope that it takes you wherever you wish to go in life.
