I found an injured bird in the road and took him home to nurse back to health. He may have jumped out of the nest a day or two early, but something had knocked the daylights out of him. He slept a whole day in an orchid basket, and then the second day, I got him to eat some raw hamburger meat. At first, only a little teeny piece, and then bigger chunks, every hour. The last two times, he ate about a whole teaspoonful :burp: Then he flew away. The end.

Aw, cute bird. That's cool that you were able to help him get better... usually injured baby birds just die when people try to take care of them.

As for feeding him ground beef, I thought that was kinda gross at first, but then I remembered that people at my university used to feed pieces of chicken to the pigeons and play "fishing" with the squirrels using food at the end of a fishing pole with a hook on the line, which is definitely worse .

Any idea what species bird that is?

Earlier this year, I hosted a pair of cardinals nesting in my patio ceiling. They had 3 fledges. But the Momma, whom I named Claudia, did not like that I smoked on the patio...
