Hey guys I'm new here and I've got a theory, What if The G-man Worked for appature science, that would explain when he says that he workes for somebody, He obvsiously do work fork for somebody, then why not appature,

On episode 3 right by the end Eli says that the G-man contacted him too, and it was his foult that the portal opened, maybe appauture did some experiemnt on Gman that messed him up, (like everbosy else on portal)and then sended him on a mission to manipulat Eli to do what ever he did.

Now you wounder, why would appature want do destroy for black mesa? If you have played portal you understand that appature was compediters against mesa and they knew that mesa was building a portal tecnology,(they got it wrong) so they built the portal gun, then they understood that mesa did something other that they expected, (teleportation) so they sended their greatest weapon to them...The G-man. But soon they realized that they did wrong, and the portal opened so.

They yet sended Gman do fix it. G-man manipulated people to nuke mesa, But, They did'nt know that it was to late, by the time they relized it was to late.

soo

Gman to offed Gordon a jobb, because Appature wanted to see what else he could do. But in time when the combine came it was to late, appature was destroyed and GlaD, was alone, She sent the G-man to "keep a watch" on Gordon. And now The gman needes Gordon to destroy or kill the combine, (or stop) So that he could rebuild appature:) Remember Gman is like a baby and with his mommmy, he loves appature and GlaD and thats why he wants to rebuild appature, he can't do it him self becasue he realized that you could not change the past

No.
1: If g-man is something so boring as an Aperture Science employee I'll kill someone.
2: G-man's teleportation technology as well as his other abilities are faaaar beyond anything ASL or BMRF had.
3: The word "Employer" can also refer to someone who's hired a freelance agent, which many of us believe G-man to be.
4: For the love of god man... no amount of tiredness in the world can excuse that kind of spelling.
5: You're telling me the entire world went through Portal storms, combine occupation, decimation of the population, slavery, rebellion and all that devestation... because of two companies who were competing over a defense contract?

no, no, no, no, and no!

If the final revelation was that the Gman wants the combine dead so he can rebuild Aperture, to compete against...... wait, black mesa is gone. To rebuild aperture to what?????

Yeah, that wouldn't make any sense. No.

I had the same thought the other day. It makes a lot of sense, especially when you consider the implied time frame of the games. In Half-Life 1, G-Man refers to his employers, but by the time of Half-Life 2, he's stopped doing that, and appears to be working as a freelancer. If Aperture was abandoned, either by the death of the employees at the hands of GlaDOS, or, as I believe, by the Combine invasion, which would have happened between HL 1 and HL 2 (the invasion also explains why there are no bodies in the Aperture facility and GlaDOS's comments about what is happening "up there"; it was an evacuation, not a mass murder), then G-Man could have appropriated (or simply, kept) the portal technology (and test subject Gordon Freeman) without any interference from his former employers (in my opinion, it's the portal technology that allows him to appear in various places throughout HL 1 and HL 2--this may have already been put forth as a theory; I haven't read all the threads). Unless I'm missing a big plot point, it makes a lot of sense to me. What started as a battle between rival corporations has evolved into the story of the human race dealing with the "unforseen consequences" of the corporations' experimental research.

How would portal technology help the g-man appear in different places? That's not a portal device, that's teleportation. Not to mention him being able to enter a different universe, which is *really* impossible with the portal gun. Not to mention the fact, that, y'know; HE DOES NOT CARRY A PORTAL GUN! AND THAT THIS IS SILLY!

And I should say that I don't agree with the last part--that G-Man wants to rebuild Aperture. I think he just wants to make the best of a bad situation, and grab whatever he can.

Who's to say that the portal gun is the only application of portal technology? I can't comment on him opening portals to new worlds, because I don't understand portal technology--I also can't discount it, because it's a part of the story that hasn't been explained yet. Just a theory, and a credible one, I think, based on what we know.

And one more thing...if the Half-Life story is anything, it's about giving us clues to help us figure out the story, not about revelations that come out of nowhere. I like to think that they're not going to suddenly drop a "G-Man uses X, which we've never heard of before, to travel through space". It will most likely be something that we've encountered in the story, previously, so that it has some resonance. Maybe he isn't using portal technology, maybe it's the Combine, maybe it's something else that we haven't noticed as important, yet, but I doubt it will be something completely new at this point.

And I severly doubt VALVe will ever explain the g-man for us.

Maybe not entirely, but I hope they at least explain how he's popped up in all these random places. That's, like, his whole thing.

Darkside calling Race-X army.

Mobilize platoon 4-C to thread 132788. Apprehend user "Berkman."

Stuff him through the farside of a geneworm portal. Let's see what the pitworms think of his theory.

Over.

How about the teleportation theory that G-Man uses is the same as the one they used to escape from the Combine. It slowed down time, mere seconds were like a week, if bigger brains wanted to, they could reverse that property and explore the demension that is created with it. What if Freeman was put to sleep for a few minutes and teleported to the train.

That's a valid theory, too. It just seems weird to me that there is so much talk of teleportation in this series, between the Combine, the portal storms, the portal gun, the local teleportation technology that the Black Mesa scientists employ--I want to say they're all related, somehow. And I think that, even within your theory, there's room for mine...who knows what kind of dealings G-Man has had since going freelance, and what technology has become available to him.

No. Just plain. NO!
That theory has so many god damned holes in it, it can't even be a theory. Yes, BMRF and AS were competing over funds. I don't think the GMan has any interest in Aperture at all. Except maybe the Borealis. But we have our theories of what is on the boat.
You people are going to be the death of Darkside.

i dont think gman is human simply because Nihilant at the end of Half-Life 1 said so, just listen to the audio files again and you can hear it clearly. Plus he speaks weird.

no its sillyness.
I think gman is someone that has been intrusted with the well being of the human race and that alone defies any possabilitie that A.S are his employers for the simple fact there in it for the money and power, that and cake. If the combine offered A.S a contract to develope technology usefull to the combine then they would do it for there own preservation, doesnt quite sound like the shared goal of the gman does it.
A.S seem to take criminals or resistance type people for there testing so they seem governmental or working completely outside of the law, i say this because GLaDOS said while you were making your escape that "you arn't a very nice person, if you were you wouldnt be here in the first place."
or words to that effect.

Hey guys, somebody save this page so in 1,5 years when episode 3 is out you can open it and start crying in a corner in the shower, because maybe I explained it wrong but that whats going on, A.S do not follow the law and they hav done this kind of tests before, by the way the thing everybody is talking about that Chell is Alyx mother and Eli wife why cant it be like that? For ones in the love of christ, everything doesn't have to be so ****ing complicated... anyway maybe Chell is just a code name for her. And Chell is Asian and she does look a hell like alyx mother.

And I have one Q: Nobody ever said anything about that Gmann name is Gmam (well in the credits) maybe his name is...Srg Lolipop... and I think that Onboard the boraelis we'll find....Srg lolipop in a kind of stasis, and that it was him that got the borealis that ****ed up. And in the end when everything fades black you can hear Alyx say "Don't leave me" to her father, Last time I checked "don't leave me" means that they shouldn't leave them and that they quit hadn't died, maybe some vortigrounts can..fix..it...And this is the first time a half life game that doesn't end and start in a train!!!!!!!!!

HL2 didn't finish in a train. I can't actually be bothered with the rest, although archiving the page is an attractive idea.

Edit: Actually I am going to add to that. If you like your theory, if you think it makes sense then great, good for you. Obviously people on forums over react and rip stuff to shreds so don't take any notice of them and have fun.

Everything that Berkman just said

I love you, Lun4tic.

Take your seat beside me at the Table of Awesome, you know you're on it.

Neither did Opposing Force. Or Blue Shift. Or Half-life 1 to be technical. In fact, the absolutely only half-life game to literally end in a train is Episode 1!

To paraphrase: LOL PLZ MAEK TEH STORERY SUCK BERKOZ MUH BRANE CAKNT HADNEL IT

Actually that's just what the first paragraph says. The second one gets too retarded for me even to be able to know how I should insult it.

Berkman, that theory is...i dunno...so "wtf are you talking about!?".

HL2 causes madness, insomnia and resulting in a severe nervous breakdown . berk there is help for you if you want it.
