What I propose is quite similar to those old enough (and around for that matter) at the time of THEOGA. This was a bunch of 'self appointed' representitives for the gaming community, which is why it was so heavily opposed and eventually fell completely through.
The gaming industry is bigger than that of movies, and hence football. So why cant a bigger industry come up with an association to help standards along in this day and age.
Obviously this association would only deal with a set number of games, ones with the most identifiable greatness (ie. competition). This would improve the standards worldwide of the gaming phenomenon.
Why doesn't each country elect one of their most well known, well liked (and so on) players for the chosen games, to be a representitive for their country in TheGA. This way they can work towards the same things the members of TheFA or UEFA work towards.
After years of having this implemented, surely you would see a start towards the integration of many leagues, and more comparable results to give us the answers to question 'who is the best clan at X'.
