If Google gets its way, the search giant could soon be acting as your hard drive. The company accidentally leaked speaker's notes from CEO Eric Schmidt's appearance at its analyst event, which detailed plans for Google to be at the center of data storage.
Google would initially like to store e-mails, Web history, pictures and bookmarks -- much like Microsoft's Windows Live service -- eventually moving toward storing "100% of user data." The notes say that the company is currently working on such plans, including something called "GDrive."

Hmm... And then have some shady people scan your computer for illegal stuff? I don't think so.

god dammit, not only is this bad news, its directing attention from my thread! :P

A little strange, I have nothing to hide however.

Good place for me to store a lot of stuff. Of course I will always prefer to have a sizable physical storage medium. Not just for privacy worries either. I just feel more comfortable knowing my data is physically right next to my leg.

hmmm I wonder if they'd sell the info contained in drives to advertisers and marketers ...it's a priceless goldmine of information that any company would love to get their hands on ...I can see other legit uses though ...like sharing of large files etc

just waiting for google to bring out a new way to wrap presents - Gstring
That'll be a fun day.

LMAO

As for Gdrive, I really don't like idea of my data "out there" swimming around the interwab.

My problem is if the damn US win the court case to let them look at google data. If they lose, and I still have my trust in Google, I'd have no quarrels using it.

You think they're going to have wireless internet zones which let you access your Gdrive on a laptop? They can call them Gspots

"Oh, good, you found that Gspot."

Oh Noez! Gman is planning to use Googles Gdrive to look at my pornoz and downloaded music!
