I found this site, which indicates that there will be a sequel to the 80's teenage cult film, currently titled at:

'The Goonies never say die'

However this is an early title, and will more than likely have a change-over later on.

I also wanted to point out that I also found a screenshot of the actors from the Goonies, reunited after several years. I don't know who that guy at the back is, but I think he might be sloth.

That would be awesome if true.

I had no idea Samwise Gamgee was in the Goonies! Wow!

It was difficult enough for me to watch the current season of 24 without saying

"OH, Mr. Frodo *sob sob* Let ME take the ring, it is such a burden!"

Spoilers for anyone who's not watched the new series of 24, kinda:

I was just thinking when they got his keycard:

"They've got the precious!"

Data and Chunk are ****in' awesome. Also, that site is pretty old.

[the Fratellis are interrogating Chunk]
Francis Fratelli: Tell us everything! Everything!
Chunk: Everything. OK! I'll talk! In third grade, I cheated on my history exam. In fourth grade, I stole my uncle Max's toupee and I glued it on my face when I was Moses in my Hebrew School play. In fifth grade, I knocked my sister Edie down the stairs and I blamed it on the dog... When my mom sent me to the summer camp for fat kids and then they served lunch I got nuts and I pigged out and they kicked me out... But the worst thing I ever done - I mixed a pot of fake puke at home and then I went to this movie theater, hid the puke in my jacket, climbed up to the balcony and then, t-t-then, I made a noise like this: hua-hua-hua-huaaaaaaa - and then I dumped it over the side, all over the people in the audience. And then, this was horrible, all the people started getting sick and throwing up all over each other. I never felt so bad in my entire life.

You can't beat the Goonies for childhood memories.

This is gonna be so great if its true!

Theres a 50:50 chance of a sequel, but I just checked this site, and it might be grim

IGNFF: A Goonies sequel has been discussed for years. I know you've gotten this question a million ways over the years, but the fans just want to know if there is still any hope. Do you think it could ever happen?
DONNER: We tried. No, I don't think so. We tried really hard. Steven and I, we pitched a couple of things to them and, quite honestly, they weren't right. And we put it aside. If I could ever find a really good handle on a screenplay for it, I'd go pitch it again, because talking about [something] I'd want to see… It's extraordinary. But it's got to be right, or don't do it, because I couldn't believe that movie. It's done to generations of kids what it's done. You know, I still stay in touch with these kids. Chunk's a lawyer and he's great. Cory, he's doing great. He went through some s***, but he's really pulled himself out and he's clean and married and has a baby and he's the happiest kid. They're all good, they're all great. I love that movie. That's probably my favorite process of filmmaking in my life. I've fallen in love with all those kids. I was lucky because I never had kids. I never wanted kids. I wanted dogs. If I could come up with a really great concept, I would take it to Steven. And if it was really right, he'd know it too. Maybe one day Chris Columbus will write it for us and we'll get back to the old group.

hmm i read on imdb that there wont be a sequel hopefully thats a lie

Goonies = teh gay

Its not Sloth--John Matuzak is dead. The guy in the back is the director Richard Donner.

They talked about the sequel on the dvd commentary, but I think it is one of the worst ideas ever. Goonies fuggin rocked, but a sequel now?! Next will be a Breakfast Club sequel, then Sixteen Candles and Weird Science...ugh, Hollywood will NEVER learn....;(

i'm inclined to agree. Goonies was amazing. best movie I ever saw as a kid. i remember reading about when the kids slid down the slide into the water to see the ship for the first time. Donner, the director, wouldn't let any of the kid actors see the ship until the cameras rolled to give credence to their disbelief. He said one of them said, "oh shit" on tape and they had to roll again, still faking it well.

there are certain movies i want another sequel. like Indiana Jones. they better make another one.

The picture of them "Reunited" is when they brought them in for the commentary for the DVD release.
