Anyone else seen this?
the Graveyard.

The Graveyard is a very short computer game. You play an old lady who visits a graveyard. You walk around, sit on a bench and listen to a song. It's more like an explorable painting than an actual game. An experiment with poetry and storytelling but without words.

Buying the full version of The Graveyard adds only one feature, the possibility of death. The full version of the game is exactly the same as the trial, except, every time you play she may die.

Sounds...Intresting.

I watched through that video expecting zombies to rise from their graves and the old woman to go kung fu crazy on them with her cane. Disappointment.

I watched that video in total boredom...

Seemed like a not so good CGI short, that you would have to pay 5 bucks for.

I like the song. That it's in Dutch (Flemish to be exact) probably helps since I can understand it. Downloading the demo. I for one am interested.

EDIT I love this. Too bad the subtleties of the lyrics are kinda lost in translation. I almost bought the 'game' to do the old lady a favour and let her die.

Eeih, I can kind of see what they're trying to do: a 'game' which is less an enjoyable timekiller or a cohesive narrative than it is just a slab of abstract sensation for art's sake. Thing is, I just don't think it works when it's this amateurish. Repetitive, unconvincing animation and a jarring, crappy, passionless song... 'Gaming poetry' like this isn't going to work until the auteurs involved employ much better graphical technology, or at least possess the artistic direction sufficient to patch the gaps.

Weren't Tale of Tales behind 'The Endless Forest'? I was intrigued by that back in the day, too, but found it to be likewise crappy and amateurish. I've heard that it's improved a lot since then though...? It's a shame because like I say, I can see more or less where they're coming from and it's admirable to go against the grain like this, but really, the execution is just too shoddy for me...

Dear Esther did that, it was a mod, and it was superb IMO. Certainly more interesting as well.

Christ that was exciting! Ya know what forget about chicks with big boobs fighting each other with katanas and crap. Old ladies walking in the graveyard, now that's where it's at.

I was expecting a kid to jump out from one of the tombstones, and she would have a heart attack from the shock

Old news. I played this ages ago. I love it. The style is very attractive and the idea of playing art or a short story or poem is great. Linger in Shadows and Flower come to mind. If anything, this is a game about what most devs miss in their games.

I didn't get linger in shadows at all. It looked like arse and gave me a headache. Other than that it was great ;)

Looks like these guys have missed a pretty integral part of a game too, gameplay.
