The greatest MMO you'll never play!

wtf..they cant be serious.

Real Cash Economy
The Real Cash Economy (RCE) in the Entropia Universe means that the virtual items inside the universe have a real value.

In order to develop your character in the Entropia Universe it is necessary to invest in your character. You may wish to purchase tools, weapons, real estate or a range of other items. These items cost PED (the Entropia Universe currency).

Real world currencies may be transferred into your secure Entropia Universe account where they are then exchanged into PED. The PED currency is directly connected to the real world economy through a fixed exchange rate with the US dollar, where 10 PED = 1US$. So if you deposit 10 US dollars, you will have 100 PED availabel to use In-World. For a full list of deposit options, please read the Deposit section.

Particpants often accumlate PED through the sale of manufactured items and by offering services to others and may at any time withdraw their accumulated PED back into real world currencies according to the exchange rate mentioned above. Read the Withdrawals section of this website for more information.

The Real Cash Economy is a unique and pioneering feature of the Entropia Universe.

ha. wow. . .that's pretty much retarded.

this might be funnier than buying gold. . .

Yeah, I played Entropia. It's kind of neat, has two "sides" to it. One starting zone makes it a more traditional "fight your way around" game, the other is more of a 3D chat room.

As for making monies, yeah you can do it. Generally it requires you to put money in though.

Years back some guy bought an island and taxed players (automatic system) for anything they sold or hunted there, and got money from that. It cost him, however, 2,700GBP to get it in the first place.

Since then a guy bought an asteroid above the game "world" with 100k USD and has managed to turn a profit in less than 8 months.

So yeah you can make monies, but it normally requires some sort of imput.

I wouldn't laugh too much. I remember playing the Project Entropia trial years ago, so it's probably outlasted and made more money than most other MMO's.

Wow thats pretty crazy.

The reason I'm laughing is because the character animations suck and he's walking on a steep mountain. Other than making some money, what else does it offer?

These next few years are not going to be pretty with so many developers flooding the market expecting their MMO to be the next WoW only to have it fall flat on its face. I can see plenty of developers going under thanks to the MMO 'gold rush' as there will be so many MMO's on the market that the market for them will be spread too thinly for the market to support them as players only ever tend to pay for one MMO at a time.

The only MMO's i can see having the potential to succeed are blizzard in development 'next gen' MMO, Biowares supposed KOTOR MMO, warhammer and maybe Age of conan...

Entropia came out before WoW IIRC...

Or is that video about the new version, on the CryEngine 2?
