Anyone seen this movie? It is by the same guy who did The Ring (Japanese version). OMG! ****ing scary shit! I think I'm going to suffer from a massive amount of sleep loss.

So has anyone here seen/heard of it.

What the hell does that have to do with this movie, that has to be the dumbest thing I have heard ever, and I have seen alot of dumb things on here. LittleB, please be sure to put your whole head infront of the shotgun.

I have not heard about this movie, but I will be sure to look for it now.

, dood, it's not like LittleB's a baby killer!

The ring scared me. It's funny though, people either weren't scared at all, or scared out of their mind.

Wow I didn't know that they had already made an American version. Bloody hell that was fast.

I think its pretty sad that Hollywood not only remakes old movies but also goes and takes other people's ideas as well.

The thing I find funny is that the people doing these re-makes are the same directors who worked on the originals. They're remaking their own movies!

They better not remake battle royale or i will be mighty pissed off....

ROFL .

thats one of the first things that came to mind when I read the title too.

what's this movie about?(without spoilers) does it have anything to do with the ring stories...imagery looks the same...

Yea, Hollywood have been trying to get hold of this one, but the people who hold the rights won't sell them.

If they did do a re-make it would be just too politically correct.

"22 Angsty Rich Kids Remain..."
Exactly

In fairness, it has many classically "Hollywood" hallmarks - love interest (especially in the face of bleak circumstances), tragic death of a best friend, popular attractive bitch girl, small group of nerdy people, psycho with a heart of tainted gold, triumph in the face of adversity, etc.
But Hollywood douing it would be appalling and horrible and wrong. It certainly wouldn't have Takeshi Kitano (he's fantastic) in it, and wouldn't even have a sniff of the irony the film had. And people would have more guns and less kitchen appliences. Bad Thing.

You're all so very, terribly confused.

I assume the original topic is speaking of the JAPANESE film, Ju-On: The Grudge. Not the American remake with Sarah Michelle Gellar.

The Japanese Ring films were directed Hideo Nakata (save Rasen). The American remake (The Ring) was by Gore Verbinski. Hideo Nakata is working on a sequel to The Ring in America. The Ring 2, to be precise. It's a new story. New film, etc. Not related to the Japanese films.

The Grudge is being remade in America, but by the same director/writer of The Grudge in Japan. Takashi Shimizu, so.. yep.

The films aren't related. They're just both Japanese horror flicks. Being remade in America, too.

I might have to check it out, but the ring did suck
