I know this has been brought up before but I couldnt find the thread.

Manhacks, scanners, physgun, hydra and combine gunships

Now both were developed very diffrently and without much public exposure so I know they didnt copy each other, but my god some of its similar.

The manhacks are bigger and controlled by humans, however the same spinning blade and lunge attach is used.
3/10 for likeness

Scanners, both the same size but the incredibles scanner has a cool room scan feature while the hl2 scanner just flashes your eyes.
2/10 for likeness

Physgun - LITERALLY the same beam which allows the user to lift objects as he pleases. The only diffrence being the characters arent killed in the incredibles (even tho the default physgun in hl2 doesnt kill, meh! It doesnt hold them still either)
5/10 for likeness, just for the beam and concept

Hydra - a long shot I know. However the boss in the Incredibles is literally a giant being that relys on its legs, ok way off.
1/10 for likeness

Combine gunships. O M G - I actually thought I was playing HL2 when the combine gunships flew over the wifes head when she was getting in the base - EXACTLY the same design, unreal.
10/10 for likeness.

Fishy? I think not.

The Incredibles was scripted 4 years ago, way before HL2 was ever announced. :)

Man, that was an awesome movie.
But yeah, there are a few similarites. IMO it's purly coincidental.

Yeah I know its highly unlikely that anyone copied anyone, but it was just so shocking how close the key ideas were.

I never actually saw the similarities myself, but it is interesting nevertheless. But yeah, I'm sure it's just coincidental and you're just thinking of HL2 too much. :p

IMHO conspiracy theory

Well the phys beams are almost identical - maybe Valve copied the idea?

Yeah I probably do need a break ;p

The gunships, yes..I thought the exact samething. It was funny, I saw it an hr ago and I thought the exact same thing when it flew over.

that huge robot ball thing is just like the striders when it's in the city... take notice! :p

also, the physgun thingy is the same thing, litterally!
he even says ''hah! zero-point technology!'' when he shows it off!

zero point gravity gun was from another 3d animated movie well before HL2 can't remember the name though

Still, the story was done about 4yrs ago. So it is all purely coincedental, I really don't think Half Life 2 created Zero-Point technology.

In fact if you spell 'The Incredibles' backwards in Russian, you can make an anagram that when mirrored looks like (from a distance) 'Half Life Two'!!!

which "the incredibles" are you talking about?

I think it's because both game and movie had many design roots in mid-century sci-fi.

Also, although "forever" is a bit much, the zero point field is an accepted theory in superstring physics.

Actually, the concept of a zero-point field is fundamental to all quantum field theories, being essentially the mathematical result of summing over an infinite set of harmonic oscillators (representing the free modes of a field). As the quantum harmonic oscillator has 1/2 hbar * omega energy even if there is no oscillation present in that mode, the result is that we always get infinite energy for the field (plus the energy of the actual em waves etc on top of that).
Generally, one disregards the infinite part, as it is constant, referring to it as the "zero-point field".

no, but when put together with the rest of the coinsidences, makes it even weirder :p
