Whacko-Jacko speaks

in the interview he address such things as Penny Arcade's donation to charity in his name (makes some weak excuse), Rockstar games and how they're responsible for all future columbine style massacres, and admits he doesnt have to play a game to know what it's about

choice words of wisdom from Whacko-jacko about Penny Arcade:

"They have initiated complaints with the Florida Bar Association. They’ve taken to trashing me on Wikipedia. They flooded out my inbox – as you know, I’m no longer using my original email address. They are hypocrites about the First Amendment: they complain that I’m interfering with their right to free speech, but they use terroristic tactics to deny me of mine. They don’t want to get into a debate with me because they will lose; their position is bankrupt."

oh noes!!! they flooded his email box! :O the evil-doers! someone call aquaman

hehe i find this pretty funny, especially the last paragraph which is his message to 'all video gamers' Jack says "Get a life!" Surely insulting, and who plays GTA for 10 hours a day....really?

Yes, put down the controller and get a life. Video gaming is an escapist activity and you’re being exploited by these companies. It’s not healthy; I worry about someone who would play Grand Theft Auto for ten hours a day. It’s a masturbatory activity, and it would be better if people put down the controller and went outside.

It's such a sorry thing ... a few months ago he was the talk of the town. His rantings would be spread everywhere in a heartbeat. But he must have gotten tired of being the guy everyone loved to hate or something because he sure hasn't made headlines (Internet headlines) lately.

I feel soooooo expoited /me shakes fist at video game industry

damn you Rockstar for giving hours of escapist entertainment. I guess I'll go back to watching reality based tv shows like CSI and Survivor!

This describes Jack Thompson in one sentence.

I hate the way he makes stupid excuses about that donating to a charity thing, when it was obviously something he was never going to do.

He's only being an idiot because he thinks that if some gamer gets so angry and kills him he'll be able to say "I told you so!"

Well here's news for you Jacky: If you're dead, YOU CAN'T SAY SHIT!

So how is that different from reading?

You have proof that they were the ones who specifically leafleted your neighborhood?

Not at this time. I called federal law enforcement on them last time, in addition to the Seattle police department. Nothing came of that – they’re not even actually in Seattle. For now, I don’t plan on any further dealings with them.
lol, get the right PD next time jack!

Take-Two’s stock has taken a serious hit over the past year. Now the damage is obvious, and the audience is more receptive.
Yeah, you caused it you asswwipe!

I’m naturally going to bring up how Paul Eibeler’s activities have been criminal
Slander

children shouldn’t be playing it.
Children shouldn't be watching porn, what's his point?

we all know what’s in the scene, and kids shouldn’t be subjected to that.
*prays to the God of Darwinism*

The video game media has been belligerent and afraid of me.
HAHAHHHAHHAHHAHHAHHAHAHHAHAHHAHHAA

Jack Thompson makes lawyerkind look stupid, which is why we all hate him.

I agree with him on the part that children should be denied access to some games.I'm talking about Manhunt and GTA (well, all the kids take the shotguns from their daddies' rooms and fire at cars :p) type games. Like prohibit from letting them play before they reach the ago of, say, ten. And show a VERY BIG RED WARNING SIGN that tells them that "You SHOULD NOT try this in real life, as you may hurt someone." in a splash screen before you start playing the game.

In other news, I roffled at the "ohnoes we are afraid of Jack" part

The ratings are in place. If the parents don't check what their kids are playing it's their fault but the blame is also shared with shop that sell them to kids (who don't have to be bloody well told that they shouldn't). That said GTA hasn't affected me.

Well, I was talking about half-retarded kiddies that take redneck daddy's gun and shoot people with it.

America should really be more strict on firearms :|

32_Footsteps: What actions do you believe the creators of Penny Arcade have taken against you?

Jack Thompson: Well, where to begin? They’ve incited many sophomoric pranks, some really disgusting ones. One notable time, they got people to leaflet the area in which I live.

laff..that's quite funny if I picture it right, but isn't leafletting just putting leaves everywhere?

I understand that he's trying to protect young kids innocense, but when he insults the gaming communty as a whole, this goes to show he's got more balls than brain. Its like destroying a beehive with a nuke, it gets the job done, but then you have the resultant fallout to deal with.

The last game I played was Starcraft, and that was two weeks ago, I couldn't say anybody could play GTA: SA for 10 hours, especially the PC version, that was a shoddy console port

children shouldn’t be playing it.

Its not entirely the childrens fault they are playing it, its a number of factors:
1. Parents
2. Retailers
3. Psychological mind of the child (Curiosity of game content springs to mind)

what I dont understand is how a 10 year old would be able to buy a $60 game without his parents knowing . ...Parents buy games when kids are that young, they need to bear the brunt of responsibility NOT game developers ..are parents really that lazy that they cant take the time to be involved with what their children are watching/playing? I know I will

I was under the impression that a number of high-profile games company folks had issued a "When and where?" request for a debate with Thompson that he declined?
Christ, I'd happily - not to mention confidently - go in for a debate with him, and I'm a dreadful public speaker.

It's awfully rich for Thompson to constantly resort to this horrorshow of a rejoinder.
"Erm, you're all stupid."
He uses it here, he used it when people called him on his utterly bastardised take on Swift's A Modest Proposal. To clarify:
That is a defence used by people who have not yet hit a double-figure age.
If he weren't so repugnant, conceited and sanctimonious, I might feel a degree of pity for his incompetence, but I don't. Not even a little bit.

But then I'm preaching to the converted.

And he calls that disgusting? Leafletting? What a fool...

The problem with these arguments is that they're the arguments against everything. I mean, sure, video games are masturbatory and useless... if you play them 24/7. Just like alcohol is absolutely awful for you if you constantly binge (except video games don't cause liver damage). In moderation, just like everything else, games are fine.

I say, just check IDs when someone buys a game (Adult rated games). And when they buy it, you HAVE to ask them if any minors will be playing it. That way, theres no argument over anything, because then it's completely the parent's fault. I wouldn't mind having to show my ID whenever I buy a game, as long as it then stopped all this "video games are evil" shit I hear all the time. (Probably wouldn't effect me at all.. because I damn near NEVER buy games in stores.)

I can't believe you guys down south still haven't done anything drastic. If he was up here in Canada doing those things..he would already be flat on his ass and sent to the supreme court for defying the charter of rights and freedoms. That guy is not going to last much longer.

I hope everybody realizes that he's a lawyer, and he might not even believe in any of this shit he says. He does it for teh MONIES, yo.

Still friggin' funny to hear his wacko arguments.

The best part of this, though, is now he's losing all his popularity since everyone disagrees with him.

or a waiver that says "you are responsible for any ill effects should you give this game to a minor, you will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law"

Something should be instituted like the sale of alcohol. "Furnishing mature video games for minors" as a punishable offense.

Hilarity:

Jackie said:
Not at this time. Back in the day, Eliot Ness didn’t go after the small-time criminals. Eliot Ness went after Al Capone. Actually, I must offer my apologies to Al Capone. He only targeted adults, corrupt adults with his crimes. Capone never went after minors.

He just compared a large-time murdering mobster to... the video game industry. And then he said that the mobster was worse. Wow. Next it will be Hitler. What a scumbag.

I was wondering, he mentioned that he has changed his original email address. Is his new one public and does anyone know if he reads it? I have an idea for an email..

That's a terrible idea. It means that game ratings should be done by the government, and not the ESRB. Which means bad things will happen for video games. :| All that should be done is game-selling store policies should be more strict with who they sell to.

That would do it. And shut everyone the **** up too. "The video games made my kids shoot all those people!"

...

No, you're ****ed up son in his retardedness and hate for the world made him shoot all those people.

Hmmmm..... No wonder your such an angry lawyer.....

And I just had to quote this.....

I find it hard to whack my Willie when I have both hands on the controller.:naughty:

As soon as you do, I'll think about it.
This guy is pathetic. He shoots a bullet at someone then begs for their help in his 'Godly Mission'.

I remenber I saw a kid of like 7 years old who wanted to play gta but the father didnt let he play it and say that it was not a game for kids

why not the rest of the parents do that? lazy people

Yeah, unfortunately a lot of idiots make loads of money. Just by being themselves! \Aw~w/

:O holy shit he's gone off the deep end ..funny I wonder why he isnt doing it in his own home state ..surely they'll sell 25 to life as well

Jack Thompson has to be the funniest guy on the internet. I hope he doesn't fade away too soon, it's always great to have a total idiot for satire purposes.

I'm fourteen so I'm too young to play most of the games I play (I just say I'm fithteen at the store.) I know fourteen year olds who are gamers and fourteen year olds who aren't and I'd have to say that the gamers are definatly less violent and aggresive, how can this be so?

I doubt that he will ever stop but he seems to be slowing down with old age. :P

Computer Games are something to get anyway from the world, be in a "good" situation, or an evil one. But i guess he will never see why they are good for gamers.
