The most evil video game villian of all time

Not sure if anyone has already posted something like this, but which villian is the most evil of any game to ever be released? I'd probably say Kefka from Final Fantasy III, simply because Kefka had no other motive for his evil biddings other than to watch people squirm. He poisoned an entire city of men, women, children, and old people...laughing while doing it. Sure he eventually conquered the world, but that was just a side benefit of his mass sadistic behavior. Also, he nearly caused world genocide.....and laughed while doing it. That guy's pretty evil. Far more so than Sephiroth from FFVII,(hate posts in 5..4..3..) who actually had an agenda behind his mass suffering than just basking in people's misery. What are some other opinions?:upstare: EDIT< Oh, and Alex from the Golden Sun series is a distant second to Kefka. He was cruel and manipulative to the very end.

EDIT: But seriously, I can't think of anyone really. I'll tell you who the worst is, though: General RAAM from Gears of War. He appears at the start of the game, guts some guy in your squad, ****s off, then appears at the end of the game as a big fat bullet magnet in control of some train for no apparant raison. Sucked.

No kidding?!?! I played Castle Wolfenstein and got past that train level (or was that allied assault?) and made it close to the end to where you return to the Castle, but never finished the game beyond that point. If I'd know the final battle was against Hitler, I'd finished the game.

Sounds like Return to Castle Wolfenstein. I think I meant Wolfenstine 3D, which is blocky as crap and was one of the first not-quite-first-person-shooters ever. And at the end, you fought Hitler in a Powersuit. :/

The villians from other FF games were the diet coke of evil, EDIT<as well as most other games for that matter. Nowhere near the real deal like Kefka.

The problem with villains is, how do you judge their "evilness"? Is it how many people they kill? How few morals they possess? How brutal they are in their rule? How ruthless their methods of torture are? How much they cackle? I can't think of a single villain from a video game that secretes evil from every pore. To be genuinely heartless requires that a heart was there in the first place, I think.

I'd like to say that SHODAN is fit for that description, but she's not - she's not evil so much as a kid in a candy store.

Evil at it's purest to me is mass killings and torture just for the thrill of it, no agenda whatsoever other than to watch others suffer. like Kefka. Also can be a combination of all the other things you mentioned too.

Sounds to me like General RAAM fits perfectly into this category, as there have not been any motivations so far for his actions amongst the Locust.

SHODAN. She never descended into 'Muahaha' Pantomime-Villainy like so many other Computer Game villains. Even the great Bob Page is included... Area 51 includes some stock lines shipped straight from Cheddar Gorge.

I have a soft spot for Kefka too. He's a Final Fantasy villain with none of the pretense. No silly posing and god-awful speeches about sorrow and pain (Sephiroth), No turning up at the last minute and belatedly claiming to be the real evil behind it all (Every other Final Fantasy villain). He's just an insane Jester who screws around and laughs his way through the game. But then, after FFV, anyone who wasn't an Evil Tree was a step forward.

I'd say Breen, but no; he really thought he was doing the right thing. Then I thought: Prophet of Truth of course! But no he's just another zealot, and then I thought: Combine Advisors, but no, there's a number of them, and we don't know any specific ones. So I finally settled on SHODAN.

Does anyone remember the Blood series? Caleb, the main protagonist, was pretty bad too.He was almost as bad as Kefka, since not only did he pretty much kill everything in sight, including the devil himself along with his minions, but the irony is that he was also the main character. The good guy if you will. That almost makes him worst than Kefka. I can't believe I didn't mention him before. That makes him second and Alex from Golden Sun third now.

I'm gonna have to go with Sephiroth. He killed entire towns, and lol'd about it. But yeah, slightly angsty/"emo". But tbh he's who really comes to mind when I think of a character who was truly built around the concept of villainy in the video games world.

Irenicus gets my vote for best video game villain, but I didn't want to put him down for the most evil. He was such a good bad guy that I don't want to hate him.
