now, i would get this cause it has agp, and i wouldnt have to get a new vid card, but i would have to get a new processor :(

now, the PCI ex1 slot, is that pci express? i know pci express are replacing agp, but is PCI-X replacing PCI? whenever i see PCI-X only boards, the PCI slots are smaller, would that mean that all my old PCI wont be compatible?

and what the heck is gear

First of all don't use pci-x, say pci-e, because the x one is actually another type of pci that came out a long time ago. Anyway, it doesn't say how fast the AGP slot is, but I thought PCI-E motherboards didn't have AGP slots. And you don't need a pci-e board, cards today are just starting to fully use all of AGP 8x speed. You don't need pci-e until maybe 2 years from now, and they'll be a lot cheaper then.

G.E.A.R. is a temporary AGP interface solution. (Gigabyte Enahnced AGP Riser)
AGP performance will not be the same as a board that uses AGP and does not have PCI-Express.

I would suggest not getting a Prescott CPU nor a Socket 775 board.
Is there a reason you would like to spend money now that will give you less performance for something you may only use in the future?

You will also need DDR2 memory, not your current DDR.

If you would like a Pentium 4, I would strongly suggest getting a Pentium 4 'C' Northwood CPU (512KB L2 cache) on a board with the 875 or 865PE chipset. It performs much better than the Prescott, which is the only CPU available for the Socket 775 platform, in games and many other applications as well as running cooler.
Or an Athlon 64. ;)

Game performance
Pentium 4 530-560 : 3.0GHz-3.6GHz Prescott on Socket 775
Pentium 4 3.0-3.4 GHz : Northwood 'C'
Pentium 4 3.4GHz EE : Extreme Edition
Pentium 4 3.0E-3.4E GHz : Prescott 'E'
Athlon 64 2800+-3800+, Athlon 64 FX-53 and Athlon XP

I don't really want to explain why the Prescott core is a step backwards. Although it looks like the reason Prescott exists will be pushed back. Link
