Anyone else watch this show? I find it pretty hilarious, its somewhat like the movie office space combined with all of those generic office commericals combined into a show. British or American versions, its all good, the show is simply pretty good.

YA I used to watch it, it reminds me just of my jobat the shoe store with the random people and personalities.

Never saw the US version, but I'm still gonna think the original UK one is far better.

And your thoughts are correct.

The American version is just..meh compared to the UK version. I wish they would make some new ones. ;(

I really don't get the appeal, it really gets on my tits the way everyone circlejerked (and still do to this day) about how it's the best thing to come out of UK comedy in a long time. Get stuffed, there's far better preceeding it and proceeding it.

Also, Ricky Gervais is a cock.

Name those that preceeded it?

If you say Spaced I'll eat your mother.
Spaced is the epitome of British comedy, how the hell could you prefer The Office to it?

My prime example alongside Spaced is I'm Alan Partridge. If you find yourself laughing harder at The Office than IAP (and I don't think anything to this day has matched that for me), then you've got something seriously wrong with you.

I like I'm Alan Partridge more than The Office, but I still prefer those 2 over Spaced.

Spaced's a little more subtle, but it's so well-crafted and clever. Besides, half the fun is spotting all of the pop-culture references throughout.

The US version is better.....I said it........

No where near better, although it's brilliant. Huge fan of the show, the avatar since i joined kind of points that out. Axyon you silly, always says that, your the only person i know who has such a distaste for Ricky. Can't we just love one another?

Agreed. I honestly cant see how people think its the greatest British comedy show ever. Its not half as funny as say, Spaced, Monty Python, Blackadder etc. But I guess its all down to personal taste, so if you like it then fairy nuff, just dont expect me to.

I don't know, if people really don't see what's funny about the Office then it won't be understood through explanation. You have to find extreme awkwardness funny to be able to laugh at it. It parodies the crappest, most annoying parts of people's character so well. Lines like "half-caste? my favourite!" just crack me up without fail.

I'm Alan Partridge was a likewise awesome show but kind of inconsistent IMO. I would probably laugh harder at IAP but laugh longer at The Office. Spaced wasn't too great for me, but it had it's moments (like bogle-ing in the mirror to Aswad - that was classic).

The US version of the Office wasn't actually too bad, but it was nowhere near as good as the british one. The main guy tended to ham up his acting too much, but when he forgot to do that it was actually pretty funny. You can't beat the twattishness of Brent though.

I prefer Spaced and Alan Partridge to the Office. I still think it's superb, though.

Meh, I think I might have to give it another try.

Ah, I just remembered - any one who liked The Office HAS to check out a series called The Thick Of It! It's done in almost exactly the same style, but the humour is a bit more subtle and a bit politically tinged. Great swearing also.

It took some time to get used to, believe me, I wanted to...at first it was meh, lots of viewings later I started to like it...but that's it...I don't adore it. It has its moments but I don't consider it to be among the best of British comedies.

The American version is pretty alright as well. Considering how often remakes fail over there it seems to be doing pretty good, which is good, since it's way better than the rest of crap that gets aired. Hope it'll be a successfull show in the future.

I agree with Axyon though, I Alan Partridge > all
Looking forward to the IAP movie.

Love it. Come on, stapler in jelly? Classic :D

That's pretty much the whole premise of the show right there. Obviously not your sort of humor then :P

That said, I'd have to agree the Office isn't the best thing to come out of UK comedy (although I've never heard anyone make that claim before... except maybe on the DVD case), but it's also kind of different from anything else out there - it has it's own unique style, which is all too often confused with greatness.

That said, awesome show. Alan Partridge FTW too, but we don't get him anymore =/

Infact, not alot of British shows on telly here at all anymore. Asides from Coro and Eastenders, and Faulty Towers reruns...

Edit - Oh yeah, quite curious about the american version, perhaps purely for the fact that it stars Steve Carell, who is the MAN.
