The Opera Mod Update

Sean from The Opera has sent word of a tasty update! Not only are there new renders and concept pieces (sampled below), but their lead programmer also shares some of his thoughts!
The Half-Life 2 SDK has been a joy to work with.

In the past week I have accomplished what took me several months in HL1: I'd say we have about 90% of the movement code done, mixed akimbo done, damage handling, action meter, client-side effects, etc...

Even did some things that will be staples of The Opera, such as diving through glass. You can ask any team member that's tried the latest Alpha: we would love to have a map made entirely of glass panes that we can dive through.

The uzi doesn't look bad, but... I think the modelling could use a bit of detail, unless they're going to less, so that it'll run even better on lower spec PCs?

Anyway i like the concept, even though its in the slightly cartoony style i dont like, the models seem a bit odd, looks like they have put lots of polys where they dont need and missed 'em where they do need them.
 
the second pic looks like elton john. might wanna work on that character design a little bit

Being a regular on the TS forums i can safely say that there will be a TS:S becaus of this posted by an admin :D

TS Source is currently being worked on by Morf, who has a crack team of trained chimps living in his basement, randomly whacking keys on various computers. So far there have been a few teething problems; they've only managed to bash out the complete works of Shakespeare. Punishment of the simians ensued.

Rest assured, though, that Morf will continue to spank the monkey until TS:S is complete.

Exactly who i thought he looked like.......i didn't wanna say it tho

Its the glasses, the hair, the little chubby face and of course the white coat that polishes it off.......i reckon if you made his hair darker and longer it would look good......actually then it would look like ozzy osbourne AHH!!!

I hate to QFE (what the hell is with this new fad anyway? it's retarded) but I was about to post the exact same thing.

chances of us seeing TS in Source are about .00001% (to much dismay), I was never a fan of The Opera, and although it may not be TS, it's close enough to warrant playing it (geez am I tired of CS:S and HL2DM)

That would be because they aren't skinned yet.
 
The Opera was easily one of the most fun mods for HL; it may not have had the graphics, but damn, it had the gameplay. I'm eagerly anticipating this.
 
I hope they focus as much on pistols as the first.
I love pistols fights... automatics are for wimps.
 
Wow, Opera.. that sure was a while ago I played the mod. It actually was good, I especially liked the co-operative "bot mode".
 
with news that the specialists may or may not be coming, it's nice to see at least one kick-ass action orientated hl2 mod is on its way and lookin good :)
 
TS:S is not being worked on and will never be worked on.
 
We must stress that media displayed in this update is currently work in progress and has already been improved upon (normal maps, etc.).

We are however still open to criticism and the odd suggestion, so why not visit our forums and make yourself heard.
