Half-Life is way better then Halo 3. I was so glad that the Box sold more then Halo, proves that people likes Half-Life more then Halo, haha, don't like Halo anymore!

Yeah, but the Orange Box was multiplatform. The PC version sold more than both console versions put together. Halo is only popular on the 360, on the PC it fails.

Oh boy, a Half-Life vs. Halo thread! I love these! They're the best kind of threads, because Halo players are stupid casual shootan fagets and frat boys and Half-Life is the king of all shooters and is for the mature thinking man and everything about Half-Life is great and it's funny watching those fags talk about Halo like it's the best thing ever well look at the numbers Orange Box sold more than Halo 3 HAHAHAHAHAHAHA take that stupid Bungie you're stupid and your game is stupid and your fans are stupid and Half-Life is the greatest and its fans are the best and Valve is the best company there is so it's funny when Half-Life sells more than Halo 3 because that makes our game superior to yours and we can rub it in your faces take that XBros even though you're probably too busy having fun with your GAYLO to even come onto a Half-Life forum and even read that your game didn't sell as well as our game hahaha you're so stupid

Darkside clearly remembers the Halo 2 vs. Half-Life 2 threads from before either of them was released.

There is much talk and I have listened. Through rock and metal and time.

I remember debating with my friend who was as excited about Halo 2 as I was about HL2. Pre-November of course. I truly miss those days.

The Doom³ vs. Half-Life 2 were way better.
Those arguments always ended the same way. Someone posted a picture of a black square and said "Doom 3," and then someone posted a picture of Half-Life 1 having the flashlight on and the player being able to shoot, saying "Even HL1 could do what Doom 3 can't!"

And then nobody would say anything else because the argument was over. But the next day there'd be another thread arguing about it.

Perhaps I missed something, but how do you / we know the Orange Box sold more than Halo 3?

Fans can debate Doom 3 or Halo 3 etc. with the Half Life 2 episodes.

Half Life 2 itself cannot be debated upon, and no one should be putting Halo next to the Half Life name.

The only thing Halo did was save XBox, but if the game was on pc or any other console, it would just be an average console game.

The article is wrong (Wikipedia: "More than one million people played Halo 3 on Xbox Live in the first twenty hours.", the game made $300-million in one week), and even if it was right, it's talking about a single week in the life of the product, not its lifetime sales. After the Christmas 2007 period, Halo 3 had sold 8.1 million copies. The same (childishly PC biased) site reports that console versions (and there were two) of the Orange Box reached only 1.5 million by Feb 2008. Valve are usually pretty guarded about PC sales, but Lombardi only called them "significantly stronger, at least a two-digit percentage increase over the console sales". Even if he means '99%' better, that would still mean multi-platform sales of less than five million by Feb 2008.

Halo is a massive franchise. To even consider the possibility that Valve games outsell it is simple-minded, about as stupid as believing that sales-figures have more than a cursory resemblance to the quality of a game.

And stop posting the ugly-ass box-art as if we have no idea what the Orange Box is.

Your irony-machine is broken. It makes the right points, but its hard to take seriously as in defence of Halo when it uses the words 'fagets', 'fags' and 'Gaylo', since these words - and I have this on good authority - were invented by users of X-Box Live. Please fix.

Halo fan!
The Orange Box sold more then Halo 3, is it so damn difficult to understand?
It sold more on the PC of course!

Half-Life sold 9.3 million, Half-Life 2 sold 6.5 million, The Orange Box sold 4 or 5 million.

I loved Halo 1, liked Halo 2, disliked Halo 3.

But when it comes to Half Life and the Orange Box I love 98% of it

Half-Life 2 sold more then the whole Halo serie

The Orange Box sold 3 million and Halo 3 sold 8 million, sorry for the mistake. Anyway Half-Life sold 9.3 million and Half-Life 2 sold 6.5 million but that does not include Steam, Half-Life 2 is properly around 8.3 - 8.6 million, that beats Halo 1, 2 and 3!

Don't make a new thread about the exact same thing.

These are only retail sales, no numbers have been released for Steam sales AFAIK.

Unless of course Halo combined has managed to sell in excess of 25 million copies. Then you'd really look silly.

Half-Life: 9.3 million + Half-Life 2 8.3-8.6 million + all the Episodes = around 20-30 million, Valve has sold games for 32 million!

Where the hell did you get that the episodes has sold 15 million copies?

If you count Left 4 Dead and Counter-Strike, other quite successful series, then yes, it's probably correct.

If you take Opposing Force: 1.1 million, Blue Shift: 800.000, Episode One: 1.4 million, The Orange Box: 3 million, the free mod of Half-life with CS: 4.2 million. Halo has only managed to sell 20 million(Halo 1, Halo 2, Halo 3) if not included all the games Bungie have made. Valve has sold games for 32 million.

Wii Sports has moved 45.71 million copies, therefore Half-life 2 and Halo 3 now suck.

Also, we are now WiiSports.net/forums
