Apparently they made a proper KITT car that you could buy as normal retail (ltd edition I think) but they had to recall them and pay lots of compensation because one or two morons thought it'd be just like the program and tried to do some stylish jumps over large distances. Needless to say, you can't and they killed themselves.

That is a stupid auction...there were around 40 of those cars made and often destroyed to make that show. One of the stunt doubles was a family friend, and he asked for one of the cars as a payment for a couple of the episodes, so alot of those cars exist
yes it does talk...but it's by a tape you play through the stereo...and you can read the responses from the script...it's not worth as much as it's being sold for...I've takin a ride in one of them before, although cool, you run out of gas REALLY fast. So to sum it up...it might be worth 25k...not much more
