A friend of mine said he wittnessed the creation of "pwned".


Someone on his server on CS typed it instead of owned and within a week it had spread past that server to practically the whole world...



You can decide whether he told the truth or not. Personally... I see no real reason to disbelieve him. He has been playing for many years... he could well have been there lol..


I of course see no real reason to actually believe him as well like... but still.

Just remember the whole idea of Wikipedia. If the article is missing information or theories then you are almost expected actually add them in yourself. Did it possibly sart at ID software? Just write a little blurb as another alternative theory. Is it missing other variations of owned? Just add them yourself.

Btw, not to nitpick, just some useful info, it's id software, not ID or Id or anything else, as well as being pronounced like did without the first d, and not pronouced I.D.

I was corrected by a former editor for CGW shortly before meeting Carmack....that would have been REALLY embarassing
