The Oscars were rubbish

The oscars were rubbish. I'm in England I went to an Oscars party starting at 1 this morning. It was so disappointing. It was the goofiest, cheesiest excuse for publicity. Urgh, and the reporters...what was his name? Brad Bush? something like that. What a dick - the most insulting guy i've ever seen.

I don't know if it was the same in the US but our English commentry by Jonathan Woss and his 3 stooges was atrocious. RUBBISH

and i'd just like to say i feel real sorry for the girl at the party who drew the 'lord of the rings' card and ended up having to down 11 drinks!

What were you expecting? The Oscars are always rubbish. They're sort of famous for being rubbish.

You guys have commentators for the show in England? Like a football game or something? That is weird. No commentary here in the states, just the show in all its crappiness.

Hahaha, those dicks standing and asking all the moviestars what they were wearing...or should I say: "Who they were wearing!" My God! I nearly puked:
"Hey darling *kisskiss* it's been toooooooo long"
Up yours, Hollywood!

only commentry in what i imagine are the commercial break slots in US.

Last year the oscars had steve martin.
Before Whoopi Goldberg

at least then they were great because they were rubbish

Guys, if you don't like the oscars, why watch them

It's sort of like seeing a bad car accident on the side of the road. You don't really want to see the carnage, but for some reason its hard to look away.

Heh, well, I found it quite easy to look away, I didn't watch any of it last night. Had better things to do, I think I watched UK Gold all night.. sad lol

Right, thats the other oscar threads locked. Lets try keep it to just one, there really wasn't any need to have so many open at once when it was all the same stuff.

I'll leave the Ian being drunk thread open since its not the same as the others.

i didnt see it as i was in bed. do u guys mean the whole thing was rubbish (like the oscars won werent deserved or somin) or just the show? Coz loads of people say things are crap on forums without really meaning it (me included).

This is kinda what the Oscars are always like. I find it easier to watch something else and check back sporadicly.

I recorded only the awards part and watched that.

Whats the point of awards now really? What a waste of money, that goes for music awards as well.

Oscars?

Actually i didnt watch them, but found out the most important piece of information. Lord of the Rings got 11 Oscars.

LODR wasnt that good, there must had been some really crap films if that won so many

lord of da rings?

Anyway, i thought it was great and so did a lot of other people. The fact that it was on sucha large scale and took in so much money probably had some influence.

LOTR shouldn't have done that well, the move wasn't very good. And how the hell did it when best screenplay .... its based on the damn book, there's barely any original writing.

Who the hell are you people?
Did you watch the movie upside down or something? :smoking:

It won best ADAPTED screenplay. Do you know what that means?

Awards ceromonies are generally a crock of shit. You'll probably find that a lot of Actors/Directors etc. couldn't give a shit to whether they won an oscar or not. It's all about if they were able to produce the movie they wanted and if it was successful is what it was attempting. Awards are sort of just tagged onto the end.

Well, I guess LOTR deserved to win 11 oscars, but it sure didn't help make the awards any more entertaining.

After hearing "And the award goes to......Lord of the Rings:Return of the King!!!" for about the seventh time, I started to get bored.

Well thats just it? Its not really about entertainment ultimately anyway. Its about rewarding people for what they have done.
